SOPA & PIPA - Does it ring a Bell??? If it does ring aBell and you know everything about it, then Good, you don't need this post. If you havea vague idea or no idea about it, then do continue to read.

For the past few months, you can see these Acronyms inmany of the websites. Some of you may know that they are related to someAmerican law, freedom of speech, piracy, etc. Let me give you an idea and how it will impact you.

Most of us download stuff from internet like Songs, Movies,Games, Softwares, etc. Whether it be through Torrents, Direct Links, FTPServers, etc. Some of these arecompletely FREE to use. Problem comes when U download stuff which has a priceto pay. This is referred to as “Online Piracy”. As U don’t pay money for usingthis Copyrighted material, downloading such data will drain the revenue of thecompanies who owns it. Piracy has no limits. Even a person inAntarctica can play “Gears of War” if He/She has an awesome Laptop and Goodinternet Connection without paying for the game itself.

There is already a Law in place. In this, the company canrequest a website to remove the webpages, links or data of infringing material. If thatcompany doesn’t notice that website or link, it will remain there and availablefor everybody. Also, Companies don’t have a way to stop Torrents. They are notuploaded in the Website servers. It is more like user-to-user sharing. Still they can close down the torrent website for supporting such activity. Websiteis the medium for users to initiate the sharing through torrent. If you know“thepiratebay.org” – Big torrent website, you should have heard that they werearrested in the past for piracy. This is the reason why many of the downloadingforums and torrent sites have a disclaimer on their websites stating that the usersare solely responsible for the content they upload or post and website is notliable for it.

With growing prices of Movie Tickets, Music Albums, Games,Softwares, number of people resorting for piracy is increasing day after day.And the companies’ revenue loss is touching a billion figure or even more. Whereverthere is large money involved, lobbyists come into the picture. Now thesecompanies are lobbying to get forth a “bill” that will curb the Online Piracy.

This “Bill” is named as “SOPA (Stop OnlinePiracy Act)”. It also has a sister Bill – “PIPA (Protect Intellectual Property Act).
Generally Piracy starts like this (Eg. Movie) :-
1. The pirate (A Person) gets the movie.
2. Uploads it in a file-hostingwebsite like Rapidshare.
3. Then share the links for that movie in different forums, blogs, etc.
4. People download the movie from these links.

As per SOPA, it mainly blames the File-Hosting websites and the forums or blogs which spreads the links across the internet. It wants to bar advertising networks and payment facilities from doing business with infringing websites, and search engines from linking to the sites, and also Internet service providers (ISPs) to block access to these sites. The law will include unauthorized streaming of copyright material, which will impose penalty of five years (Maximum) in prison. That would take out "Youtube". It also enables the law to block access to entire domain due to infringing material posted on a single blog or post. This would threaten blogging sites like Blogger, Wordpress, Tumblr, etc. It is unfair to block a whole domain just because of a single blog. This kind of website censorship is seen in China, where people use many techniques and tools to bypass this.

Recently, Megaupload - A Popular File-Hosting website was seized by FBI because of the infringing material. U can go to the website and check for urself. Already many File-Hosting websites are reviewing their services and business plans to ensure that they are not impacted by the law. For example, FileSonic - A File-Hosting website. Before any person can upload any file in this website without an account. If a person has an account and uploads a file, he can share that link with outside world to download. But now, it restricted the functionality. Every upload requires an account. Only the person who uploaded the file, can download it through his account.

It's Americans who are mostly impacted by this, for obvious reason (Hey, it's American Bill). There are many popular U.S websites which face the threat, as the U.S govt not only restrict access to these websites, they will also hold them responsible for the infringing material found on their website. This would eventually lead to the shutdown of the websites. So people around world will be affected with this.

If a person uploads a movie to Rapidshare and then shares the link in Facebook. If it gets reported, Facebook will be Shutdown as it is a U.S website and comes under the purview of the Bill. Rapidshare will be banned across the U.S. They can't shut it down as it is not a U.S website. So U see Facebook will be shut-down in U.S. But still there is a work-around. They can move out of U.S so that they are not liable. Still they will lose lot of customers in the form of U.S citizens.

I think nobody should have a problem in bringing forth a Bill that will curb the online piracy. But it should not effect the Internet, where innovation is always at work. Presently, Freedom of speech is mostly found in the internet than in the real world. Nobody wants to give away such Freedom. The Bill needs to be tailored so that it doesn't affect other aspects of the Internet. So exercise your freedom of speech in the internet and spread the awareness about these Bills. Post a Facebook status, Tweet, Update the Gtalk Status, etc.

24+ Hours in a Day

There are only 24 hours in a day. Time, it's a commodity which you can't buy. It doesn't even matter how rich you are???. What if ... If you get 2 extra hours in a day???
For some people who are busy the whole day, those 2 hours will ease their minds ... For the rest who wastes the day, it doesn't really matter.

People have different priorities depending on their mindsets. Some say that it is Family ... Someone else say that it is Career ... etc. Let's see some scenarios :-

A Student:- Now that's a broad category. In student life, there are many things that are part of their daily routine. Books, Lab, Friends, Canteen, Hostel, Room, A girl/boy (More than One Girl/Boy in some cases).

A student who is bothered about his/her career and keeps on studying for impending exams. Extra hours are a bliss for him/her and utilizes them for his/her only purpose - Study.
The one with a Girl friend who keeps on Chit-Chatting with her on the Phone, he doesn't even recognize the time. So extra hours will just give him, extra phone bill to pay.
The one with lots of friends and hangs around canteen and theaters, ... Well, he needs a little more funds to keep himself around and enjoy the company. Maybe it will also give him some time to think about his future.

An Unemployed:- With growing competition and increasing no. of passed-outs every year, a person has to do a lot more than just getting good marks on his/her grade sheet to survive in this mean world. Need to recognize strengths and dominate weaknesses, keeping the struggle "ON" without getting disheartened. Extra hours in their day will be valuable, so that he/she can develop some skills or attend some job interviews or come up with some business venture, etc.

A Software Professional:- With upcoming deadlines, never-ending bugs to debug, pending objectives to get appraisal, etc, he/she definitely needs more than 24 hours in a day. With ever-decreasing Work-Life balances in the IT field, these extra hours are extremely valuable. They can spend these extra hours in various ways. Can get some more sleep to get rid of those black areas under their eyes or dedicate it to their career (Not recommended) or spend it in relationships (Highly Recommended).

A Parent:- Children wants to spend their time with parents. What if they have to spend their time with some Babysitter in the evenings??? There may be some children who spent their childhood with maids looking after them while their parents were out there, working the whole day. Even parents want to spend their time with Children. But nowadays, Jobs come at the cost of the Employee's personal life. A few extra hours will be valuable to Both, Children & Parents. By spending time together, they live up their lives. With cherishing moments in Childhood, Children will know the value of Compassion & Love. They will remember to do the same when they become a parent in the future.

Retired or Old Age:- A person with good memories from his/her past life will spend their old age recollecting those memories. With Good Health, he/she can also have new memories to rejuvenate his/her old age. Few extra hours are of no harm to him/her.

As per my situation is concerned, I need those extra hours desperately for the preparation of my CFA Level 1 exam for the next 1 month.

"Google Instant" kills "I'm Feeling Lucky"

Do you know Google??? Stupid question. Everyone knows Google. Known for its search engine at first, but it went beyond & became a pioneer in the Internet.

Everybody is pretty familiar with the interface of Google search Engine. The following is the Screenshot of the Google search in 2004.

Normally, what people do is type their keywords in the Textbox and then Press "Enter" or Click the button "Google Search". It eventually takes us to the page with the search results like this ...

Search results come along with lots of Ads at the right side of the page. You can see lots of them in the screenshot. But some of us have also observed a button "I'm Feeling Lucky" in the Google's main page, which takes us right to the first link or website in the search results without the effort to surf through the results along with Ads. Many people used it as it serves the purpose of the search engine. "I'm Feeling Lucky" just tells us that "I'm lucky to find my search result directly".

But most of you don't know that "I'm Feeling Lucky" feature caused some damage to the Google's revenues. The damage is negligible compared to Google's revenue. But this damage can be eliminated, and it is done in later years.

In 2009, Both "Google Search" & "I'm Feeling Lucky" buttons disappeared for some countries and users. Instead of clicking buttons, now user just have to press "Enter" to get the search results. Indirectly they eliminated the "I'm Feeling Lucky" facility. A Google spokesperson reasons that, "This is just a test, and a way for us to gauge whether our users will like an even simpler search interface". Later, it was brought back.

In 2010, with the advent of "Google Instant", there is no requirement for any buttons on the interface or the "Enter" button on keyboard. It directly gives the results as you type the keywords in the text box.

That feature is really good. Its dynamic nature keeps you awed. That's where you really forget about your "I'm Feeling Lucky" Button. It still appears on the main Google search page along with "Google Search" button. But if the "Google Instant" is ON, you don't get a chance to press neither "Google Search" nor "I'm Feeling Lucky". You can turn OFF the Google Instant feature in the preferences. But Who Cares??? They are getting much superior feature, which serves both Google and customer. Google gets their Ads to all the Customers and Customers gets a dynamic search, where he/she doesn't have to click a thing to move to the search results.

You can still have your old "I'm Feeling Lucky" feature by turning the "Google Instant" OFF in the preferences.

Try This with "Google Instant" ON: Without typing anything, just press the buttons "Google Search" and "I'm Feeling Lucky". Nothing happens when you click "Google Search". When you click "I'm Feeling Lucky", it redirects to Google Doodles (Logos). I can't guarantee these results. Who Knows??? They may redirect it to somewhere else or just remove both Buttons.

Mere "Movie" ki "Flop Kahani"

Today Evening (Monday), After coming from Office ... I opened my Laptop to check my Facebook messages and Gmail, which I do for every half an hour. Next thing I do is think "What should I read today for CFA exam". Already went through hours of studying on Saturday and Sunday without any Movie. Feeling Saturated, Gave a glance at Laptop. I realized that there is a movie, which is awaiting to get watched. Why not???

I have a weakness regarding movies. If there is a movie released with Good Publicity and Well-known Cast & It becomes a Flop after the release, I will still watch the movie to extinguish my Anxiety (What's there in the Movie???). It doesn't mean that I will watch it in Theater. There is a problem with theaters. U can't Fast-Forward a boring Movie in a theater and U pay Hefty Money for this unwanted Facility.

Coming to the Movie, it is titled "Mere Brother Ki Dulhan". To say in One word ... "Awwwwww". No wonder that it is a Flop movie.

Casting:- Whoever did this, doesn't have common sense. It is "Ok" if Hero looks Older than Heroine. But Vice Versa, It looks very "Odd". This is exactly the case over here. Katrina Kaif looks older than Imran Khan and Ali Zafar. No Disrespect, But that is my Opinion.

Story, Screenplay & Direction:- This is the first movie as director for Ali Abbas Zafar. I think he doesn't trust others with his movie. So he came up with his own "story". I appreciate him for coming up with a Different story. But there is a thing called "Screenplay", which is more important if you are coming up with Different story. Because people needs to get involved with the story. That's where this movie sucks.

There is no proper chemistry between the lead characters. It looks like "dono ko Zabardasti pyaar karna pad raha hai".
Characterization of the characters are confusing. I think the scripts of the actors got exchanged while shooting the movie.
Even the Climax looks Forced one. "Kuch bhi".
Sometimes I think that to be Heroine in Bollywood, all it takes is Beauty and Style. "Bhaad mein jaye Acting".
But I like that Scene Where Katrina kidnaps or runaway (Whatever) with Imran Khan. It was hilarious. Even that Ali Zafar guy did a great job.
Music was good.

Dookude "Dookudu"

"Fantastic, Mind-Blowing, Unbelievable" ... This is the dialogue of Mahesh in one of the Dookudu's trailers. Now this is What the audience are saying when they come out of the theaters after watching this movie.

Dookudu - A Real Entertaining, Action-Packed Perfect Telugu Movie ... I don't say that it deserves an award but definitely needs an appreciation.

Mahesh Babu:- Many people criticized Mahesh for his Flops in the last 5 years. Some doubted his capabilities. Others even think that He is a Lazy one and takes time to make a single movie. At Last, He is Back with a Bang & it's gonna have ripple effect in the coming years. Nowadays People are saying that He is getting younger and younger with every movie. In some reviews, they even say that His looks are even dominating this movie's Gorgeous Heroine Samantha (A.K.A Jessi). BTW The run-time of the movie is like more than 3 hours & you can feel his presence for more than 2 and half hours of the movie.

Techinical Values:- Filled with High Technical Values. Exceptional Photography, Camerawork, Graphics, etc. You can see it in every frame of the movie. When a good Direction added to these Technical Values produces a recipe, which tastes like "Dookudu". To say, It is a "Visual Bliss".

Entertainment:- You can find entertainment in every nook and corner of this Movie. As usual, Every Entertaining movie in Tollywood eventually casts Brahmi, The Evergreen Comedy King. People bursts out laughing when he appears on the Screen. There are also others like M.S.Narayan, Dharamavarapu, etc. I can easily say that 50% of the Success is due to the Entertainment, it gives to the Audience. In the First Place, that is the very reason why I watched "Dookudu" in a theater. I don't normally watch movies in a theater.

Story:- A Bit Lengthy movie. When it comes to story, it is Just like any other movie in Tollywood. Hero chasing after the Villains with Revenge. Breaking their bones with Bare Hands. Falling in Love with a Beautiful Girl, Eventually She also needs to fall for him (She has no Choice :P). Sentiment here and there. But you can't deny the fact that Successful Indian movies have one or two of these traits to keep the Audience in their seats.

Director:- Srinu Vaitla, who has become a Trademark of Entertainment in Tollywood with his Hits like Venky, Dubai Seenu, Ready (The one from which Salman's "Ready" was made), King. Now with Dookudu, He maintained his Mark and also proved that He is one of those directors that Tollywood should be proud of.

Main Factor at Play:- Telugu People have been desperately waiting for a Movie that sweeps them of their feet. This movie made it possible. Dookudu is not only a Good Entertainer, But it's timing was incredibly Great. Even Mahesh's Fans were waiting for a Movie so that they can be proud of their Actor. This movie is a Great relief to them.

All Happies. That was what Movies are always about.

"Mr.Perfect" is not so Perfect

Mr.Perfect... Super-Hit Telugu Movie...

Spoiler Alert:- Read this Blog only after watching this movie or if you don't have any intentions to watch this movie in the Future.

I didn't watch it when it was released in theaters. I don't remember exactly why I didn't watch a Super-Hit Movie, That too a Telugu One. Whatever be the reasons, Today I watched it on DVD. Nice movie. Perfect for a family to watch and enjoy. Even though the story seems like a Khichdi of different Hit-Movie stories, But at the end it gave a totally different flavor.

Everything seemed to be Perfect. But I noticed a Flaw in Making. It is a silly thing to notice such mistakes. But I can't help it.

In the Climax, there is a Crucial scene where the Hero receives a MMS from Heroine expressing her Love & Feelings. I don't know the reason why my attention diverted towards the details of the Phone. Maybe because I am a Techie and an Enthusiast. Following Scene is from the Climax:

You can clearly see that It is Apple's iPhone. Let's Check What he is seeing ...

Here you can see the Logo & the name of "BlackBerry".

This mistake is the result of any of the following reasons:-
1. Due to the lack of co-ordination between the filming unit and Graphics team.
2. Negligence of Graphics team.
3. Somebody thought that audience are not so observant. But I am. :)

Now you definitely say that it's trivial. But I am Just sharing with you.
Anyways Movies are meant for entertainment. We should see the "Big Picture" not the Minute Details. Only an Award Jury should notice such things to evaluate the efficiency of the Production team.

"Aaromale" ... A Cocktail of Soothing Music & Euphonious Lyrics

"Aaromale" ... This is the Malayalam song from the Tamil movie "Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa" and Telugu movie "Ye Maaya Chesave". Both movies are directed by the same person & they were released on the same date. It was Gautham Menon, a south-Indian director who is known for his critically-acclaimed movies & Experimentation behind them. Both movies were well-received by the audience. Now it is being remade in Hindi by the same director. Prior to this, he directed a Hindi movie "Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein", which was a remake of his popular Tamil film "Minnale". He has good taste in music. Songs in his movies always have great music & splendid lyrics, either from Harris Jayaraj or A. R. Rahman.

Coming back to "Aaromale", being a malayalam song, neither Tamil nor Telugu audience doesn't understand its lyrics. Still the Song became the chart topper after its release. Music in itself speaks about the situation of the song. Lyrics and Variations in the Singer's Voice conveys the message completely. Credit goes to Rahman, the lyricist Kaithapram & singer Alphons Joseph. From my observation, this is the only song which is a part of two movies from different languages without any change in lyrics or music. I guess, Hindi remake of this movie, as mentioned above, will be using the same song without any change.

Nagarjuna's "Criminal (1994)" = Harrison Ford's "Fugitive (1993)"

Yesterday I was watching Harrison Ford's "Fugitive" movie with my friend and colleague Vishal. After the first 10 minutes of the movie, I recognized that this is the movie from which Nagarjuna's "Criminal" was made.

If there is a remake movie in Tollywood during Pre-2000's, it is mostly taken from Kollywood (Tamil) and Bollywood (Hindi). I didn't know any other movies from that period that were a remake of a Hollywood movie. But I came across "One" yesterday.

Regarding Plot, not much changes to the basic story. But still, little changes are made to ensure that the story has the basic Indian movie formula (Masala). Some of the rules of Indian movie formula regarding which changes are done, are as follows:-

1. Every hero needs to end up with a female companion/partner - In "Fugitive", it is the murder of the female lead that the story revolves around. So, the hero ends up alone at the end of the movie. But in "Criminal", they induced a role for second female lead who helps the hero in the movie to catch the villain and ultimately ends up as his Wife, that's Implied I Guess.

2. Songs are Must - As Everybody knows, Hollywood movies doesn't have songs. Even if they have one, it is mostly during the starting of the movie to give a feel about the movie or in the end when the titles are rolling. But in Indian Cinema, it is different. It is definite to have 5-6 Songs or even more in some cases. They don't care whether it is situational or not. It also includes Duets where Hero and Heroine go dance on some good or well-known location or on a film-set. As the main female lead was already dead, they had second female lead to dance beside the Hero - So Convenient for the Director to keep up the Formula.

3. Less Sophistication - Indian people prefer movies with easy-to-grasp story. Directors also prefer the same to please the wider audience. In "Fugitive", the story involves drug trials, tissue samples, FDA approval, etc which is little out-of-scope for common man. To make things simple, In "Criminal" they replaced it with illlegal business of selling Human organs.

4. No Movie without Love Story - In "Fugitive", the movies starts straightaway with the murder of the female lead. After that, they show the bits and pieces of the time spent by the Hero with her, which is also related to the main story-line. But Indian audience needs a love story in every movie. So in "Criminal", there is Flashback which shows an entire episode of the love story and the motive of the murder.

5. Comedy - Whether it be a Suspense, Action, Thriller or any other genre, We (Indians) need at least a Stint of Comedy in the movie. As Usual, new Characters (Comedians) are induced in the movie whose Sole purpose is to generate some laughs in the Audience.

6. Lengthy Run-time - Hollywood movies mostly have a run-time of 90 - 120 minutes. Indians come to theaters seeking Entertainment for 2-2.5 Hours. For a remake to be successful, Director needs to do some stretching in the scenes or fill some trash in the story-line. The Trash can be a love story (In this case), Songs, comedy or some other diversion in the story time-line.

There are many changes that are made to make a Hollywood movie into a Complete Indian Movie. Respect Indian Tradition (Even if it is a Tradition in Movies) & Keep it Alive. Anyways Happy Watching ... !!!

Double Tumbler System - An Act of Inequality

I just don't believe that there are still those acts of untouchability in our society, where the literacy rate is spiking year after year. But I never came across such incidents around me. Maybe it is because I live in a Comfort Zone.

Today, I came across an article in Times of India. It mentions that "When dalits in Tamil Nadu lodged a complaint with Police about Double-Tumbler system in their Village Tea shops, the Non-Dalit shop owners doubled the rate for a cup of Tea". A question popped up in my mind "What is a Double Tumbler System?". Obviously, Googled it.

Double Tumbler System is a practice of serving tea in separate glasses to Dalits. Most probably in "Steel" tumblers, where Non-Dalit customers are served in Glass tumblers. That's not all. Dalit customers are not allowed to sit on the benches or chairs in the shop. They need to sit on the floor to have their cup of Tea.

The Non-Dalit Shop Owners raised the rate just to make sure that Dalits can't afford a cup of Tea. This will keep the Dalits away from the Shops. But Non-Dalits don't know about the consequences of such actions. What if Dalits ignore them. I guess most of these Non-Dalits employ Dalits in one or another Household or Factory Work. They depend on them in some part of their life. Just imagine, when Dalits choose to work only for their own profit and stop working under or for Non-Dalits.

This kind of distinction between people based on Caste is just enough for creating disturbances in the society, which eventually reduces harmony and brings instability. A person will not remain in such a state of discrimination forever. When they start to think clearly, they realize that even their children will undergo such humiliation. France's Ban Against Islamic Dress code (Burqa & Niqab)

I don't know whether it is due to Security reasons or to suppress the Muslim minority, France started a ban on Burqa and Niqab effective from April 11, 2011. France is the country with European's biggest Muslim population. How can they risk to take such a decision which would lead to a social tensions among Muslim community in the country?

About the Law:-
In this law, it imposes a fine of 150 Euros ($190) for violating it. You can either go for a public service duty as an alternative or pay the fine. Actually, the law was enacted in October and gave a six-month time to inform people about the penalties before it is put into effect. If a person (Husband or a Family member) forces a woman to wear a niqab or a burqa is punishable by a year in prison and a 30,000 euro fine. Forcing a minor to do the same thing is punishable by two years in prison and 60,000 euro.

The Ban is imposed only on burqa, a full-body covering that includes a mesh over the face, and the niqab, a full-face veil that leaves an opening only for the eyes. The hijab, which covers the hair and neck but not the face, and the chador, which covers the body but not the face, are not banned in this law. The main focus was to ban those customs that covers the faces. Even though, the ban was brought into effect on the security grounds. There is also a thing called Human rights, that matters. People should be allowed to practice their religion freely.
People of France backed this ban with a clear majority of more than four to one. I guess the majority came from the non-Islamic community. It's shame on these people to support the government which doesn't give respect to other people's religion. This time, it happened to Islamic Community. Next, it can be Hindu community ... Who Knows? Everybody is concerned only about their own comforts, beliefs and aspects. Please try to see it from the perspective of your fellow beings. That's what makes you a real Human Being.

Shakti [2011] ---> Humiliating Telugu Fantasy Movie

Starring Jr.NTR (The Iconic star of Tollywood) & Ileana D'cruz (Always Size Zero) as the main Lead, Shakti was released on April 1st, April Fool's Day.

   After giving a Good break to Jr.NTR with his first film "Kantri", Director Meher Ramesh did his next movie "Billa" with Prabhas. That one was Above Average, however, it has great on-screen apprearance and production values. By watching his movies, we can guess that he is good at making stylish and appealing movies but not so good at narrating the main story, which is the core element of any movie. Then he came up with some fantasy movie story, which he assumes as a Great story. It was said that after listening to the story, Jr.NTR was glad to act in such a film. "I am shocked ... !!!". With previous Successful venture "Kantri", Producer Aswini Dutt had immense confidence in Meher Ramesh. So they decided to do it.

Publicity:-
   There is abundant amount of Publicity prior to the Movie release. Jr.NTR, himself & Ileana gave a live performance during Audio Release in front of his huge fan crowd. Aswini Dutt even said that he is so impressed about Meher's "Shakti" and want to make a sequel, "Shakti 2", if everything goes fine. I think that was a statement just to influence the mindset of audience so that they will definitely watch the movie atleast once.

Release Date:-
   First, they decided to release it on March 30, 2011 or March 31,2011. But when India made it into the semi-finals and that too, the match was against Pakistan on March 30th. Even though, Cricket and Movies are like two eyes to India, It's Cricket that got some bonus priority over Movies. If there is a Super-hit movie and Great Cricket Match Live on TV, People will go for the Cricket. As you can watch the movie even after a week, but the thrill of an on-going match can't replaced with anything else. So, they decided to postpone the release date to April 1st, 2011. It's April Fool's Day. How can somebody be so dumb that they release a movie on that day? and that too, when they know that Movie is gonna be a big flop?

Movie Analysis:-
   When you look at the Story, you will feel like the story writer took inspirations from many movies like "Magadheera", "Deviputhrudu", etc. And Basically, the story is not refined and Half-baked. They just took for granted that "Telugu Audience has an IQ less than that of a Beautiful Blonde". That was always the mistake committed by Today's Tollywood Directors and Producers. People are more looking forward for movies that are reasonably logical. "Even a Dumb story with Great screenplay can Survive the Day". But the Screenplay is more disastrous than All-of-the-rest-combined.

Being a fan of Jr.NTR, Each one of them expects an entertaining movie from Jr.NTR. He is known for his Lengthy-cum-Powerful Dialogue Deliveries, Versatile dancing and Nowadays, Handsomeness too. With past 5 movies or so, He has been making a good impression on his fans. Movies like these may damage his reputation forever. My Advice to Jr. NTR - "Think before you Leap".

12 Angry Men [1957]

Disclaimer: It is better if you watch this Movie before you read this blog ... Because I may be discussing few things about this movie here, which would spoil the feel in the movie if you want to watch it later ... !!!

Today, It was India Vs SA World Cup League Match (Cricket). Due to Bizarre Performance of the Indian middle-order batsmen and Bowlers, India lost the match with a narrow margin. Even though from the start, my impulse says that India will lose due to its poor Bowling ... As an Indian, I want India to win in every match.

So, the morale is down. But Need to had a dinner. It's my habit to watch a movie while having a dinner in my room. I started the movie "12 Angry Men". While checking the list of IMDb's Top 250 list, you can find this movie in the Top 10 (It was ranked 7 when I was writing this Blog). It is termed as a Classic in its reviews. And also that this movie is listed in many places with keywords "must watch", "all time classics", "all time top 100 movies", etc. Even though it was nominated for Oscars in 3 categories during its time, it was lost to its competitor "The Bridge on the River Kwai". But it is an interesting fact that "The Bridge on the River Kwai" was ranked 81 in the Top 250 List, which is way behind the "12 Angry Men".

Coming to its Plot, it is about how a jury of 12 people with variety of personalities, decide the fate of a boy who faces the charges of his father's murder. Unlike India, there is a thing called "Jury" in America. It consists of a set of people, who listens to the proceedings of a case in the court and give their Judgement. But there is a catch. In the movie, it says that all the people in the jury should come to an unanimous decision regarding the trial. Therefore, they all go to a room, before giving the judgement, to discuss about the case and come up with a decision and that too, Unanimously.

When 12 of them went inside the Jury room, 11 of them felt that the kid is Guilty. Only one of them resists it as he wants to discuss about the case before arriving at an unanimous decision. Most of them were not ready for a discussion. Some of them are determined to give a death sentence to the boy. After many Twists and Turns, people starts to realize that there is a "Reasonable Doubt" about the boy's involvement in the murder. A jury must declare a suspect "Guilty" only if they are sure about it. At last, that one person convinced the rest of the Jury as well as "Me" that the Boy is "Not Guilty".

The way The Movie goes really keeps a viewer Spellbound. The wits of the lead character are simply amazing. By profession, he says that he is an Architect. By his way of analysis during the discussion, he seems to be more of a detective and less of an Architect. A thing to notice in this movie is that they don't reveal who the real killer is. I mean, whether the Jury has taken a right decision or wrong one by stating that the Boy is "Not Guilty".

Most of the Movie Runtime is spent in the Jury room. The film is known for its almost exclusive use of one set: with the exception of two short scenes at the beginning and the end of the film set on the steps of the court building and two short scenes in an adjoining washroom, the entire movie takes place in the jury room. The total time spent outside of the jury room is three minutes out of the full 96 minutes of the movie. Apart from two of the jurors swapping names while leaving the courthouse at the end of the movie, no names are used in the film: the defendant is referred to as "the boy" and the witnesses as the "old man" and "the lady across the street".

It was shocking to hear that the movie was not a commercial success during its time. It is complete Black & White movie. With the advent of color and widescreen productions, this movie was left behind with a disappointing box office performance. But the movie gave a good name to both the male lead and the director. "The Bridge on the River Kwai" was a color and Widescreen film. Maybe that gave it a edge in winning the Oscars ... :D

This is a Movie for those who like the Genre of "Drama" with a stint of "Mystery".

Poor PVR Customer Care

Hi Guyz...

To my Surprise, Today I received 550/- in my Citi Bank Account. Small story behind this.

On Dec 28th, 2010, I and Chandu were discussing something. It was about some message received from PVR stating that "Use this Coupon code in internet Booking to get extra movie ticket". "How about using it today?". After the discussion, we decided to go for a movie on that evening. "Band Baja Bharat" was the Talk of the Town. So there was a 7.05 p.m show in a PVR theater. Immediately I opened the browser on Chandu's Desktop. Opened PVR site. Went to Payment page. After payment, we didn't get any confirmation screen or any ticket information on mobile. Then I checked my Citi Bank account. The money was debited from the account.

But I was confident that the money will bounce back to the account just like when there is a bad transaction during train ticket booking. So we thought that we can't afford for another bad transaction because as it was month ending, already the residual money in our bank accounts was tending to Zero. But we were stubborn to see the movie. Hurried up to the theater as there wasn't much time for the movie to begin. But when we went to the theater's Kiosk, he said that "We don't accept that Coupon code over the counter. It is for Online Booking." "Shit"

All that Chase was for nothing. We didn't want to spend 300 bucks for each ticket. The DVD will be released in a week or two. However, we went to McDonalds for some snacks and then back to home. All the time, I was confident that my money will be back in my account in a day or two.

Even after 2 days (Dec 30), I didn't receive my money in my account. So, I dropped a mail to Customer Support (Feedback), Hoping that they will revert back to me with a quick reply.

On Jan 14, I received a computer-generated mail acknowledging my mail. On same day, I received another mail saying that "Sorry for late reply" and asked for my E-mail and phone no. used on the day of payment. I replied back immediately with the necessary details.

After this, I didn't receive any kind of mail or any type of communication from PVR. There is no Customer care phone number available on their site. After 15 days or so, I lost all my hopes on my 550/-. So I came to a conclusion that When money goes into PVR account, there is no coming back !!! After that day, I never bought a movie ticket online.

But recently, on Mar 1st, They sent a mail stating that my money will be credited back to my account in 7 days. What a relief !!! On Mar 2nd, I received 550/- in my Bank Account. At last, PVR credited the money after 2 months from the day of Bad transaction. Thank God ... At least after 2 Months ... !!!

When a company deals with end customer, then Customer Care plays a crucial role in their business. PVR needs to understand this. Just being updated with Upcoming movies is not enough ... Be updated by taking feedback from Customers ... !!! Even taking feedback is also not enough, Process and analyze it ... !!!

RGV in Tv9 Interview ... with Rajinikanth

Who doesn't know about Tv9 in Andhra Pradesh ... Tv9 is considered to be the most dynamic Telugu News Channel in Andhra Pradesh. Rajinikanth is their Star-Anchor in the Channel. Even-though, His name sounds like Kollywood Superstar Rajinikanth, he's not the same person. He interviewed many politicians, officers, celebrities, etc. In his interviews, he pushes them to the edge of cliff with his questions, which makes them inconvenient, provokes them to revoke and tell things which they don't intend to. Still I saw many interviews with people, who were confident and gave the appropriate answers. But I have never seen such an interview. It was with Ram Gopal Verma (RGV).

Just open youtube or Google and search for the videos with keywords as "Tv9 Rajnikanth RGV interview". I guess you will find the videos easily. Watch them only if you know Telugu as the interview is in Telugu.

The whole nuisance was started by Tv9, which telecasted a programme on RGV and his movie "KSD Appalaraju". "KSD Appalaraju" was a huge flop. Everybody knows it from the critics' reviews from websites and newspapers. But Tv9 took a step ahead and started to criticize RGV in that programme. Even that's not what RGV blames on Tv9. They mentioned some negative statements about audience and says that "This is what he thinks about the audience". They said that RGV thinks Audience are fools and Stupid. They started to criticize RGV with words which are not profane in nature but definitely objectionable on media.

So RGV want to file a case against Tv9. In that regard, Tv9 invited RGV for an interview to discuss about that issue on 25-26 Feb, 2011. Whatever I say about that interview is very less. At any point in that interview, there is no moment where you feel that situation is under the control of Tv9 Anchor Rajinikanth. Moreover, RGV caught him cold at many instances.

RGV clearly mentioned that " I am completely OK with your views/reviews on my movies. But you don't have any rights making statements on my behalf or second-guessing my thoughts on any issues. This misleads people on what I am." I personally feel that RGV is completely correct about it. There are many other things they talked about in the interview - about his career and His Book "Naa Ishtam". He also said that " I don't want to make standard formula movies like others. I am experimental in nature. I don't force people to see movies. I just make them. It's their decision to see them or not."

Anyways, I feel that Tv9 should apologize to RGV on this matter. They should double-check their statements before going public. Media is very powerful and influential in nature. If anything comes wrong in media, it will take more time to rectify it. So Beware Tv9 ... !!!

Metro'Pollutin'

After living in a small and clean town, it's like a hell to live in a crowded, dirty & expensive city. Don't you Agree? Let's see ...

I spent my 4 years of College in Banaras/Varanasi, Which is indicated as "City" on the map only Due to its Population, Population Density and an Airport. But considering any other small cities, It's no way near to a City. It's just Big-Size Town with no Proper Public Transport. Roads are so narrow & crowded that a person can never drive a Vehicle without Kissing other's Vehicle. People can visit Varanasi for a Pilgrimage, not to settle down in their life. The negligent Govt. over there is responsible for the Present situation of Banaras and its Parent State U.P. After that horrendous life in Varanasi, I decided not to settle in a city like this ever. But I like BHU Campus a lot. It is completely different from the horrible city outside the campus. "Peaceful atmosphere, Greenery everywhere, Spacious Campus except in our hostel rooms."

When I came to know that I got my Job posting in Gurgaon, I was disappointed as I was expecting it in Bangalore (Factors like Near-To-Home, South-Indian Food, Friends, Good Climate than any other City in India.) Whatever it is, Gurgaon is a City, not really a "Gaon" as the name indicates. For those people who spent most their life in towns, Going to a City is a big thing. That too ... Gurgaon is a part of NCR (National Capital Region). Hmmm...Sounds Great.

Whenever somebody use the word "City"... The place that comes to my mind First is Hyderabad because that's the only Metropolitan I frequently visit (Atleast Once a year... ). Apart from Telangana Agitation, I like Everything about "The City of Pearls" because of its good Public transport, Amenities, Tourist Attractions, Lot more Cleaner than Banaras, Etc ... During my research about Gurgaon, Somewhere I read that "According to a survey by Business Today magazine, Gurgaon is considered the best city in India to work and live in." After Hearing and Reading so much About Gurgaon, I was expecting a Metropolitan much better than Hyderabad.

But ... When I entered the City, What I see is Only Cars. Like 90% or even Above of the Total Traffic are Cars. They flooded the City Roads. What I noticed is Everybody self-drives themselves to their Office.

In normal towns, Car is symbol of Royalty, Richness & atlast, comes Comfort. But this is quite Different here. It became a necessity to everybody over here. Not a car-per-family ... It's on Per-Member Basis, just like mobile phones. If a Wife and a Husband works in diff. Offices, they own Two cars for their convenience. If this is the way of commuting in every house, then "Just Imagine" How many cars will be on Road during Peak Hours? Consider the Wastage of resources (Petrol, Diesel), Which we Import from other Countries at Higher Prices.

After analysing I came to a Conclusion that In Cities like Bangalore, Gurgaon, Pune, etc. Four-wheelers have become more than necessity in their life. Due to their Bulky & Handsome Salaries, they can easily afford a Car along with its maintenance. They never care about Pollution and Uneasy caused to the others. Why don't these People use some Public Transport or Atleast Bus Service provided by their Company?

If this keeps on going, our future generations have to suffer a lot. I guess they have to use Gas Masks to survive longer. At Least, CNG has brought some revolution in reducing Pollution. It's not that it's completely Pollution-Free. Better than Petrol and Diesel. Best are the Ones Driven by Electricity.

Government will not even Bother to look into this issue. They don't have time to deal with these Trivial things. Most of their time goes in Doing Scams and again Enquiring about it. They will notice it when this Trivial transforms into something Chronic. They will wait till then.

Interesting Point:- Acutally We can't say Gurgaon is a Metropolitan according to the Census Commission. The Census Commission defines a metropolitan city one having a population of over 4 Million. Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru,Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Pune, Surat are the Nine cities that qualify. Residents of these cities are also entitled to a higher House rent allowance.

Deadly One... GPL

Mostly... People from Graduation Colleges are quite familiar with term "GPL"... Others might find it as a Awkward Abbreviation ...

If U search it in Google... No use, Guys. You will find results of "GNU GPL(General Public License)". But it's not what I am talking about. It is not the one that U can Google it. U have to Experience it to know What it is. That can leave a Very good impact & impression on you. Let me introduce it to U ... It's "Gaan* pe Laat" ... Oh C'mon Guys ... Censor Problems ... I guess U understood What it is... !!!

To explain it, it is as simple as "Uthao aur Maaro". Somebody started it. It is being continued as a college tradition and will be continuing forever. This terminology is also limited to Certain Colleges. Generally People refer it to "Birthday Bumps". But it is referred for those given on his/her birthday. For GPL, there is no need for a Specific occasion such as Birthday. It can be Birthday, Campus Placement, Paid Internship, IIM Call, Good GRE Score, Top Sem Pointers, Scholarship ... Whatever be the Occasion, it can be practiced. The celebration Starts with GPL. Sometimes, there will be a Vague reason behind it like "Aaj ye ***** (Ladki ka Naam) se baat kiya" ... Sometimes that is Quite Enough to have your situation messed-up. After that U will never talk with that Girl ... Atleast, not in front of your friends.

There is no Such thing as Proper place for performing this Ritual. In college, Any place would do. "Kabhi Classroom mein, Kabhi Bathroom mein, Kabhi Cafeteria mein, Kabhi Lab mein, Kabhi Mess Hall mein, Kabhi Road pe, Kabhi restaurant mein, ... (list continues)".

There is no such written rule that You have to use your leg or hand to beat up. "Kuch bhi Chalega ... Chappal, Jhootha, Belt, Rod, ..... (List continues, Bas Chaku use nahi karte hai... Thank God)".

I used to be proud that I was never the Victim. I was always against it. But I gave it to 2 or 3 people in my college days ...... Just 2 or 3 Bumps, not much ...

Even on Birthdays, I managed to escape. Then I got job in Cognizant. Along with me, 22 of my classmates also got placed in it. So other Classmates didn't dare to give GPL for 23 of us. "Strength matters". But when I got selected for Sapient, then I was the only one in the Class to get selected. There was no way I can escape here. I gave up myself to their beating. After 2 minutes of Beating, Pain was unbearable as they were beating with leather shoes and Chappals. So, got rid of them and ran for my life. Went to Mess hall and stayed there. Mess workers were sleeping over there after their tiresome day. My Classmates had been searching for their prey (Me). After half an hour, they gave up their search. To be sure, I stayed in the mess hall for another half an hour. From there I went to Mtech Bhaiya Sampath's room. He gave me Shelter for rest of the day. There, it was how my first GPL went. Not so terrible compared to the ones I saw.

Guyz ... Be careful while Giving somebody ... Bumps. I even heard that One of my seniors got a fracture when he was given a GPL. So ... Play Safe.

His latest release is "Enthiran (Tamil) a.k.a Robo (Telugu) a.k.a Robot (Hindi)". This time, he came up with entirely different project compared to his previous projects. A Sci-Fi, Fiction, Thriller, Action, Comedy, Romantic, ...etc Movie.

As U can see that his previous release was "Shivaji" in 2007. It took 3 years for him to make this movie. That makes it the most awaited movie of the year. That too, the movie casts SRK (It's not Shah Rukh Khan, It's Superstar Rajni Kanth) and Aishwarya Rai. Produced by Kalanidhi Maran and Hansraj Saxena, it is known for being the most expensive film in Asia ever made, officially budgeted at 162 crores. As usual, A R Rahman is the music director. Shankar - Rahman partnership had been successful all the time. It has been going on, right from the first movie "Gentleman" except for the movie "Anniyan (Tamil) a.k.a Aparichithudu (Telugu) a.k.a Aparichit (Hindi)" in which Harris Jayaraj is the music director.

After all that waiting, it was released on 1st October, 2010. The film was opened in 2250 theatres worldwide of which 555 theatres were in Tamil Nadu alone, making it the largest worldwide release for a Tamil film. Upon release, it enjoyed critical acclaim and commercial success across the globe, collecting an unprecedented 200 crores in the first 2 Weeks.

Critics Review:-

Enthiran has received widespread critical acclaim. On the review-aggregation website ReviewGang, the film scored 7.0/10 based on 9 reviews. About its Hindi version, Anupama Chopra of NDTV says, "Robot rides on Rajinikanth’s shoulders and he never stoops under the burden. Aided by snazzy clothes, make-up and special effects, he makes Chitti endearing", while giving it 3.5 out of 5. Aniruddha Guha of DNA rated it 4 out of 5: "The creepy laughter, body language, the sneer under the heavily made up face all create an effect that leaves you spellbound. This a Rajni fest all the way, and it’s not to be missed". Nikhat Kazmi of Times of India rated it 4 out of 5: "Robot is the perfect getaway film, guaranteed to give you a high with its heady over-the-top Tamil flavour. You might just overdose on the pungent masala fare."

My Experience...

Generally I don't watch movies in theatres unless it is my favourite actor's or some big blockbuster. There are some South-Indian directors who makes movies worth-watching in theatres. Shankar is definitely one of them. So I pre-decided to watch the movie before its release. My Bad Luck... The movie is showing in Tamil and Hindi versions in Gurgaon. As I can't understand Tamil, it's better to watch it in Hindi. Thank God...Atleast there is a hindi version. Otherwise I had to watch in tamil and that would be last thing I would. There is no point in watching a movie in a theatre without knowing the language and that too without subtitles ... :)

Actually 1st October is Friday. Weekends in Gurgaon, Life is costly. If U wanna go a movie, take a 500-rupee note. Take nothing less...Expect nothing less. So I decided to go on a weekday. My Review...

"Mind Blowing Graphics Work, Never-Before Never-After Kind. Very rarely seen in Indian Movies. Great deal of Effort went into making of songs...Beautiful Locations...Stunning costumes of Aishwarya Rai...Ingenious Screenply & Direction...". The song lyrics in Hindi are not as good as they are in Telugu. They sound awkward. Better lyrics would have made some good in Audio Sales.
But I believe that Rajnikanth is not a person for this kind of role. "Shivaji" is his kind of movie but not "Chitti" (This is the name of Robot in this movie) . This is my personal Opnion... No Hard Feelings. Anyhow... Everyone has to accept a truth that it is really a Brave Attempt by him to do such a action movie at a age of 61...Bravo..

My View...

I have my own theory on why Shankar chose Rajnikanth to play the role. To make a movie like Endhiran a.ka. Robot, it takes lot of investment. Producers doesn't want to take chance by hiring some small actor with limited fan base. That is why Shankar approached SRK first(This time, it's Shah Rukh Khan). In July 2007, Shah Rukh Khan agreed to play the lead role and also to produce the film. But in October 2007, he called off the project. He commented on the script as "Half-Baked" & dull in comparison to his previous projects. But Shankar believes in his script. He always proved himself as a Good script writer too.

Now Shankar wants an actor with very good fan following. "Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan, RajniKanth.... Yeah ... It's Rajnikanth. It should be him". Reasons behind it as I think so could be ...

Rajnikanth movies always have record-breaking openings in Tamil Nadu & Andhra Pradesh. He has good fan base in Japan, Singapore, Germany too. So Good Collections in Overseas too.
He did his previous movie "Shivaji" with him. Great commercial Hit. Maybe he felt that he will be more comfortable making a movie with him as they may have good understanding.
He is Tamil director. So prefers a Tamil Actor..... :D
Producers can be confident on the investment. "It's Rajnikanth. Money Back Guarantee".

Anyways... The Movie is finally a Great Commercial Hit in the History of Indian Film Industry...Congrats to Shankar & His Team...

India is not only a country with a wide variety of cultures, languages, ethnics, landscapes, religions, castes,...etc, but also a country with even more wide variety of human nomenclature. Don't U agree with me? ... No... U will agree with me after reading this post...

My name is "Umesh Ram". It sounds Good, Neat & Clear. Adding my Surname "Yarlagadda" to it, things get messy here. Some people especially Non-Andhra Ones don't know how to pronounce it. The Real complication occurs when you keep moving among different states like me.

In Andhra Pradesh, it is a convention that your surname comes first before your name. Just like mine it was

Yarlagadda Umesh Ram

I studied in IT-BHU, Uttar Pradesh. There, People have their real name followed by surname.
Example...

(Real Name) + ( Gupta or Agarwal or Tiwari or Shukla or Srivastav or "Katiyar"..etc )

In all my certificates, my name is written as "Yarlagadda Umesh Ram". So when people pronounce my name, they start it right from the surname. As they try to pronounce it, they come up with awkward sounds. That really annoys me. So wherever I go & when people ask me "What's ur name?". I say "Umesh Ram" so that I save some energy and complication.

I still remember all those days in IT-BHU when Profs. used to call names for attendance. In the attendence register, my name starts with my surname. When it comes to my name, they find it really hard to pronounce it ("Yarlagadda"). In those attempts, they used to discover new words that starts with "Y". But they never pronounced my surname correctly. That used to be amusing for the rest of the guys in the class. I find myself relieved if Profs. takes attendance by calling corresponding roll no.

But now the situation is out of hands. Actually I can change it now also, but it is a hell of a process. I have to apply for an affidavit in the court and get it signed by the magistrate. Then, I have to publish in the newspaper that "My name has changed and here onwards, please call my name, starting with Umesh Ram". Huh... I don't think so...

Actually I don't have problem with my name. It's the Others who have problem with it. So Why will I change it??? It doesn't make any sense.

R&R .... Doesn't it sound like R&D (Research & Development) ??? But, it's not R&D definitely. People use it in different contexts. It has different meanings. Due to this there is a little disambiguation. This is a kind of phrase, U hear it in English movies. At least, that's where I heard it recently.

R&R is mostly used in US military. It's a military slang. Full form is "Rest & Recuperation" or "Rest & Relaxation". It is the free time for a soldier in the military. It includes mail, sports, film screenings and leave time (for home).The following are the movie scenes where I heard it...

1. In one of the Hollywood's most expensive movies "Avatar ".There is a scene in the first 10 minutes of the movie where Colonel Miles explains about Pandora to those folks who r new to it. His dialogues are ...

"If there is a hell,
you might want to go there for some R&R after a tour on Pandora.
Out there, beyond that fence,
every living thing that crawls, flies or squats in the mud wants to kill you and eat your eyes for Jujubes."

Here, Col. Miles meant the same meaning (Rest & Relaxation).

2. In the movie "Dear John" starring Channing Tatum (John Tyree) & Amanda Seyfried (Savannah Curtis), the character Captain Stone says these dialogues to John Tyree...

In above example, I mentioned a movie name "Dear John"... There is a interesting thing behind this title. Do U know that there are letters known as "Dear John Letters".

A "Dear John letter" is a letter written to a husband or boyfriend by a women to inform him that their relationship is over, usually because she has found someone. These Letters are often written out of an inability or unwillingness to inform the man in person. The reverse situation, in which someone writes to his wife or girlfriend to break off the relationship, is referred to as a "Dear Jane letter".

This term have been coined by Americans during World War II. Large numbers of American troops were stationed overseas for many months or years, and as time passed many of their wives or girlfriends decided to begin a relationship with a new man rather than wait for their old one to return.

There are a number of theories on why the name John is used rather than any other. John was a common name in America at the time the term was coined. John is also the name used in many other terms that refer to an anonymous man or men, such as "John Doe" or "John Smith".

This is not much used in India ... as our Indian women writes letters asking about the well-being of their husbands. That's our culture. Hope it stays that way.

The Era of SNS ....

In my Engg. 1st year, I didn't had the slightest idea regarding Social Networking Sites (SNS). At least, I don't know how to properly use an E-mail ... "Social Networking tho Bahut doore ki baath hai". I didn't have a personal comp. in the 1st year. So used to go to the library for using Internet. There, I was introduced to "Orkut" by my classmate & friend Mohit. That was my first SNS.

Orkut :- This term is heard by most of us during the 2006-2009 Era (If U r in

India

). Everyone had a Orkut account at that time. In colleges, people used to compete with others in terms of no. of "scraps" or even friends. Boys used to hunt for girls by sending a "Friend Request". Orkut was even in news. I even heard about some cyber crimes in which Orkut was offender's platform. Youth is the main target in these crimes.

GTalk or Gmail :- Orkut and Gmail can be used with same username. Gmail introduced an integrated chat along with Mail itself. That's Gtalk. It bought a revolutionary change. People started to use Gmail instead of Yahoo!!, Hotmail, etc. Most of the people in India use Gmail. U can say that this is the most used IM in India.

Facebook :- People got bored doing all that "scraps" in the Orkut. It came to a threshold. Eventually No. of Scraps r not at all increasing. They r looking for something new. Facebook came to the rescue. It started in 2004. American people had been using it a lot since 2005 or even before. Indian "Janata" too started using it extensively from 2009. It has features like "like", pages, good elegant interface, private and public messages, chat, Wall, etc. It also has applications or games like Mafia Wars, FarmVille, etc, which are quite addictive. These classic features gave it a place in "Top 100 classic Websites" in 2007.

Nowadays, People are so addicted to Facebook that they are buying mobiles with Facebook applications pre-installed on it so that they can be online on-the-Go. Everybody is waiting for somebody to comment or "like" their status, photos, videos, etc.

Twitter :- When it comes to Twitter, it is completely different from Facebook. "Following and Followers" - "Tweets and Retweets". Like in Orkut where people used compete in number of scraps, In Twitter too they compete in terms of number of Tweets. But there's easy way here. "Just Retweet the Tweets U got from whom U follow". That's what I do most of the times, but I retweet a little sensible ones. LOL.

There is also a kind of Barter system over here to increase the no. of followers U have. " You follow me, I follow You" or "I followed you, follow me back please..!!!"...These are mostly commonly found in this barter system. There are even services who will provide you with certain number of followers if U pay the mentioned amount. That's Weird. I guess people do such things to promote their business, site or something else. In my view, Wat really made "Twitter" a success is " The presence of a lot of celebrities from various fields, countries, domains, etc ". U name one, he/she is already on Twitter (Probability ~ 99.99%).

There r many other SNS like MySpace, LinkedIn, etc. I don't use all of them otherwise U won't have much time to do anything else in ur life. Nowadays, People r using SNS so extensively that people in the same room are talking through some IM or Facebook.

Whatever SNS it maybe, "Beware" of Cyber crimes. Play Safe...!!!

Trailer Comes after Teaser

When it comes to promotion of movie, U hear terms like Teaser and Trailer. Many people don't know the difference between them. They get ambiguous when they hear them. I'll tell U what I know...

Teaser are usually shorter, with less footage from the actual film and generally has very few information about the film itself, or footages shot specifically for the preview. Teaser are sometimes created before principal photography of a movie begins. Some places, it is also known under the name "Teaser Trailer".

Trailer, on the other hand, mostly features clips from the film, usually gives an outline of what the story is about. And are often created when an rough/fine edit/edits is completed.

A Movie Teaser is generally released many months before it's Trailer. Time difference between the Teaser and Trailer depends on the filmmakers and the budget.

Bowling & Howling

Have ever been to a "Bowling Alley"...??? "No"... Then U r missing something...I would say that it's one of the "Too Good" recreational activities.

From many weeks, my roommate Vishal has been asking me to give company for going to Bowling Alley. I was not interested at that time as I thought that it would be too costly and boring too. But I said "Ok" to give company, not to participate. There are few Malls which feature a Bowling Alley.

So Today, We went to Ambiance Mall (One of the Biggest Malls in India). Each floor in this Mall is Kilometer Long...Just Imagine...I think there are 4-5 floors. There is a Bowling Alley in 3rd Floor. It's "PVR Blu-O". I think it's pretty famous. There are pins which are personally signed by Bollywood actors. U might have a question...What are "Pins"? You will know what they are by reading this blog.

After getting over there, looking at their interiors...I felt like I am in a completely different place.... Just like a place, we see in movies where rich youth hang out. There is a bar too...But I don't consume alcohol. However they don't serve to people of age less than 25. So never mind. So I thought that "I am here today...Don't know about tomorrow...Why not try the Bowling?" ... That made me buy the ticket. But after playing "Bowling" ... I felt that it was worth every penny.

Ticket rate depends on factors such as whether it is a weekend, weekday or a public holiday & also on the place. I heard it is quite costly in Bangalore (Rs 350 per person per game). Compared to that it is quite less in Gurgaon. Rates at "Blu-O" are 200 or 220 during holiday...and...165 during weekdays. U need to take shoes for rent separately (Rs 35). My total expense was 220+35.

Do U want to know rules of the game???...Let me explain the Game ... Actually it is called "Ten-Pin Bowling". Pins are those "targets" at the far end of the lane that a bowler attempts to knock down by rolling a ball at them.

The bowler is allowed ten frames in which to knock down pins, with frames one (1) through nine (9) being composed of up to two rolls. The tenth frame may be composed of up to three rolls: the bonus roll(s) following a strike or spare in the tenth (sometimes referred to as the eleventh and twelfth frames) are fill ball(s) used only to calculate the score of the mark rolled in the tenth.

Bowling has a unique scoring system which keeps track not only of the current score but also strikes and spares, which give multiple marks. Effectively, there are three kinds of marks given in a score; a strike (all ten down in the first ball), a spare (all ten down by the second ball), and an open (missed pins still standing when the turn ends). Maybe in future, I can get promoted to a status of "Pro".Then I maybe able to roll a hook.

In today's Game, I made one Strike and 2 Spares ( I guess). I defeated Vishal by 5 points. Our scores were 93 and 88. Trust me ... When U make a "Strike", you will feel like U r on top of the world...

Are you a Science freek?
Then U have to meet Dr. Walter Bishop in the TV series "Fringe".

He and his friend William Bell are the persons behind the experiments related to Fringe Science.

Fringe science is related to science concepts that are highly speculative and refuted. They are not plausible in the real world. It is also referred to as PseudoScience.

But here, they show different incidents, kind of murder mysteries, happening around the world depicting them. These incidents arouse interest in you and compel you to watch the rest of the series. In this series, they show that there is an alternate universe along with this universe.

Till now, 2 seasons are telecasted. Watched both the seasons. The writer was successful in keeping the viewers' curiosity at peak ... end-to-end. Actors casted completely suit to their roles. The actress who did the role of "Agent Dunham" is quite ravishing and outperformed throughout the 2 seasons.

Walter Bishop was kept in mental asylum for conducting experiments on children. He was kept there for nearly 20 years. In the course of the strange incidents, FBI agent Dunham thinks that the correct person who can deal with them is Walter Bishop. But only his one & only son can get him out of his hospitalization ... and he has to be under his supervision. This bought both the father & son together. The course of events, after they get together, are touchy and hilarious. Hilarious ... that's because Walter misses tasty American food while he was at asylum ...especially he misses Ginger ale... He becomes a Foodaholic after getting out. He also becomes amnesiac. There is a long story behind to reason it. There is a lot of stuff in this series that I can't explain here. U have to watch the series to know them.

What I want to convey is that ..... Science Fiction Fans don't miss this one...A must-watch for U... Guys...

I'm eagerly Waiting for the 3rd Season to telecast. It is about to start on 23rd September, 2010.

I want a Voter ID

India is a democratic country.....That's what it was being told to me since my childhood.....But now I feel that it's not...

A person gets a right to vote when he/she reaches 18....I am 21 now...That means that I even reached the age for marriage...But still I don't have my voter ID...Not only me, most of the people especially in towns and cities, don't have a voter ID. Every year, many people apply for voter IDs. Only a few get their IDs. Some people say that voter IDs are only given to those people who stands with the ruling party. If this is true, then how much democratic is this country??? More devastating truth is that only 60% of those people, who have voter IDs, cast their vote.

India is one of those countries with lower voter turnout. Don't U know what is voter turnout???

Voter turnout is the percentage of eligible voters who cast a ballot in an election.

In India, which boasts an electorate of more than 670 million people, there are certain people who take elections as a joke or consider it as their gossip subject.

The poor, who comprise the majority of the demographic, are more likely to vote than the rich and the middle classes, and turnout is higher in rural areas than urban areas. In US, the phenomenon is quite reverse.

U can see & clearly analyze the above statistics. People with lower income in India have good voter turnout than that of the higher income ones. In US, it is quite opposite. The American people, who earns good income, knows that it is for their own sake they are casting their vote. If U see regarding the education too, U can see the same phenomenon. Illiterates in India cast their vote .People in India are so busy that they can't even take half an hour in 5 years to cast their vote. But they still stand in a longer queue for the first day - first show of the ShahRukh Khan's movie. What a Shame!!!

People in rural areas are more keen about the elections in India because they are always hoping for the bright future. But they can't analyze and decide the right politician for themselves. And the people who can do it...Don't want to vote. They know about the scams and culprits in the present politics. They also know Who is the Right Leader for them. Still they r too busy or lazy to get to the polling booth on the election day. Think !!! Think !!! Think !!! ... U can still do the right thing... Go cast your vote in the next election...

The mistake doesn't entirely lie in the people...It also lies in the Government. ECI (Election commission of India) should be active, not only at the time of Elections but also during the tenure of the government. They should provide voter ID to each and every Indian. Everybody knows that getting voter ID is not a sure thing like passport, pan card, etc. Recently I too applied for it. Huh!!! Waste of time. No Result till now.

Like census, they should go door-to-door to collect details and check whether people have a voter ID card or not. If they don't, take appropriate action so that they get one...

Like Australia, we should make voting compulsory in our country too. There it is 95% voter-turnout.

Remember:

The person who doesn't cast their vote has no right to talk about the politics of his country.

While watching Prison Break Season 2, I don't have the last episode in the season 2. Without watching it, I can't go for next season as You will miss the continuity. So I don't have any other option but to start another TV series. There are many options for me. But I went for "24".

This TV Series started in 2001 and ended recently in May,2010. Every Season in this TV series has 24 episodes. Each episode corresponds to 1 Hour in Real-Time. It's totally a brilliant idea to make a TV series on the Real-Time.

Running time of the Episode (42-44 minutes) = 1 Hour in Real-Time.

They even show the time in between the events. But actually it's unrealistic for all the events to occur within the time frame as they show in the series. This makes the 24 episodes, a total of 24 hours, that means a day. That is the day when the America faces a National Security problem. Then comes the "Jack Bauer" for the rescue of the nation.

In this TV series, they created a fictional U.S agency named as CTU (Counter-Terrorist Unit) located at Los Angeles. In the 1st Episode, Jack Bauer starts as the director of CTU. He is characterized as highly professional and patriotic in nature. He can hurt anybody or even himself when it comes to saving the nation. Most of the plots in this TV series are political thrillers. It includes presidential assassination attempts, nuclear, biological and chemical threats, cyber attacks, as well as conspiracies dealing with government and corporate corruption.

Jack Bauer is the only character to have appeared in all eight seasons, as well as appearing in every episode of the series. I guess you know about Elisha Cuthbert, "The girl Next Door" fame. In this series, She (Kim Bauer) acted as the daughter of Jack Bauer. She is present in the series right from the 1st episode.

In the season 5 Last Episode... Jack Bauer extracts a Chinese from the Chinese consulate to question him in a case, which is a crime. When he gets captured by the Chinese agents in this regard, he asks Chinese to kill him immediately instead of torturing him. "You're far too valuable to kill, Mr. Bauer"...That is the dialogue of a Chinese to Jack Bauer. But I guess these are the thoughts of producer of the serial to the character Jack Bauer as he doesn't want to upset his business by killing him. That may damage TRP ratings of the series. I saw all the 8 seasons. Whenever the villain gets opportunity to kill Jack Bauer, he/she never uses it even after knowing what he is capable of. Basically I guess that there is producer's hand in the script. ...LOL

Totally, 8 seasons were broadcasted, that is 8*24=192 Episodes. At the conclusion of its eighth and final season, 24 became the longest-running espionage-themed television drama ever.

Recently, I have been to Nizampatnam to collect my Grade Sheet from Venky (My friend and classmate). He collected my grade sheet and applied for provisional certificate on my behalf at the college. Thanks to him, otherwise I had to undergo a lot of journey which costs me in terms of money, time and effort.

At his home, he offered me and my family ...a great lunch. Full of Sea food...Fish, Prawns, Crabs,...etc. As his father owns a fishing boat, they eat this kind of costly diet daily. Anywayz, it was a great lunch except that I don't eat crabs.

After awhile, we went to harbor. Many fishing boats were there when we arrived. Venky said that Each boat costs nearly 15-25 lakhs depending upon its condition, design and date of manufacture. He also gave an astonishing fact about their fishing business.

He said that the fishing boat leaves the harbor for 4 days. In these 4 days, they stay in the sea and do all the fishing stuff. After then, they return back. He said that it takes nearly 1200 litres of Diesel for the whole journey. Can you believe it??? I was quite amazed. There were like 20 boats at the harbor when I went there and many of them were already at the sea. That's like gallons of diesel.

I asked venky about how much it costs for them for one trip. He said that if per liter diesel is Rs.40, it is nearly 50,000 - 60,000 including repairs, which are quite common and regular. He said that it was quite profitable once, but now as the diesel prices are high, it's kinda of unpredictable. In past, the diesel rate was Rs.18/Liter. So, the cost per trip is quite less and in every trip, they used to get profits. Now, if they caught quite good amount of fish, then they may get some profits. But sometimes, they come empty-handed, then it's a hell of a loss. Still they continue to do it, as they inherited it from their past generations.

Fishing is not allowed during the summer so that fishes reproduce during this time and maintain the number during the rest of the year. So, all the boats stay at the coast. People remain unemployed. They take loans at high interest rates to feed themselves and then they work the rest of the year to repay their debts with interests. At the end of the year, they may still end up in debts.

Government should look into this issue seriously. But contrarily, Our Govt. is thinking about lifting up the subsidy on petrol and diesel. Then the lives of these people becomes miserable. It will increase their investment cost and also decreases their chance of making profits. So, Government should keep these people in mind while increasing the fuel prices especially Diesel or at-least give them some relaxation. It is better if they come up with some alternative source of energy so that

Their investment cost will be decreased and profit-making becomes better.
Environment will be protected from the pollution due to combustion of diesel.
Gallons of diesel can be saved for over future generations.

Deceptive Marketing Strategy of ISPs

After coming from the college, I started missing the Internet @ college. We had a very good internet connection at college even though it's not so reliable. Not reliable because our CC (Computer Centre) has a poor maintenance ( Just as in any Govt. service ). But when the Net is available, we had very impressive download speeds.

In the first few days after getting home, I started feeling the lack of internet in my daily life. As in college, I used to spend my free-time on the internet. I kinda of became an addict to it. So I felt that I should take an internet connection. When people talk about taking an internet connection, they think of BSNL broadband, Reliance and Tata only.

There are two kinds of Internet connection: Wire-line and Wireless.

I thought of taking wireless so that I can use it wherever I want. Wireless broadband is better as it offers good speeds. Before wireless broadband, there is another technology which provides very low speeds. The wireless devices are different for both types of services. In Ongole ( Where I live ), they (BSNL, Reliance, Tata) still didn't install wireless broadband . Without installing it, there is no point in buying the wireless broadband device. But they are still selling the devices for the service which provides low speeds. I need to do some downloads which needs faster internet connection. Therefore, I dropped the thought of taking wireless internet connection.

Then the only option available to me is the Wire-line BSNL broadband. Once in the past, I subscribed it. As we got shifted and there was nobody using it at home, we unsubscribed the service. But I still have the modem. But it is a real headache to take a BSNL connection because as I said ...it's a Govt. Service. After giving the application, they come after a week or two to fix the phone and again a week or two to give the username and password for using internet. As I don't have any other choice, I have to undergo this trauma of waiting.

In the past, we took a plan for Rs 500. It had good speed around 200 KBps. As usually there is a catch. U can download only upto 1.5 GB. But there is a relaxation: we can use unlimited amount during the early morning hours (2 a.m - 8 a.m). Too odd time to use the internet. So this time I thought of taking an unlimited plan. When I went to submit application, they said that they have a new unlimited plan 625c (Rs.625 per month). In this plan, they said that you will get speed upto 256 KBps and 100 free calls. Good enough for me. So I opted it.

After started using the internet, I came to know that it's not 256 KBps. It's 256 Kbps. U maybe thinking that what's the difference???. There is hell a lot of difference. Let me expalin...

Internet Service Providers (ISPs) are using a very deceptive strategy in marketing. When it comes to speed, they mention it as Kbps or Mbps. People may misinterpret it as KiloBytes per sec or MegaBytes per sec. But actually it is Kilobits per sec or Megabits per sec. There is a large difference between Bytes and bits.

1 Byte = 8 Bits
Therefore,1 KiloByte per sec (KBps) = 8 Kilobits per sec (Kbps)
and, 1 MegaByte per sec (MBps) = 8 Megabits per sec (Mbps)
When u say your harddisk is of size 80 GB, it is measured in GigaBytes, not Gigabits. Even when u download a song from internet which maybe around 4-5 MB, it is MegaBytes, not Megabits.

So When BSNL people said that it is 256 KBps, it isn't. I misinterpreted it as KBps. In reality, it is 256 Kbps i.e., 256/8 = 32 KBps (Which is very low) and the previous BSNL connection I had it was 2 Mbps i.e., 2048/8=256 KBps. I am writing this blog so that people are exposed to the reality. ISPs are giving their speeds in terms of Kbps or Mbps, so that it looks like the customers are getting good speeds.

From the below figures, you can see how the ISPs are marketing their services by fooling us around...

Here it shows 2.99 MBps, not Mbps. In terms of Mbps, it is 24 Mbps. Huhh!!! Missing it Guyzz...

No Dues...Not even One

Students in the final year of Engg. College have different feelings about leaving the college depending on their way of thinking.

Some may feel happy as they are gonna go home or native state leaving behind the dreadful mess food & torture of the academic pressure. But they still don't know that they have to face much more while doing their job.
Some may feel sad as they will miss the college days, activities & life style such as masti with friends, campus-gossips, class-bunking, night-outs for internals, college festivals, etc. When they start doing their jobs, they are gonna miss all of these stuff.

Whatever be your feeling...At that time I was neither happy nor sad. I was only thinking about how to complete the NO-DUES!!!!!

I studied in IT-BHU ( Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University). It's a government-aided college. As in Government, there are many procedures and forms in completing a process, it's the same here too.
If you don't get NO-DUES as determined by the college, you are not gonna get your final semester grade-sheet as well as your caution deposit, not to specially mention about your degree. NO-DUES form should get signed at many places in many departments.

From Administration office, you should get 4 copies of the NO-DUES form. Wherever you go for NO-DUES, you should get it signed on all the four copies of that form.

In my First year, we had many labs and workshops. So, we should get the NO-DUES form signed at the following labs :-

Applied Physics Lab
Applied Chemistry Lab
IT-Computer Lab
Engineering Drawing Lab
Electronics Engg. Devices Lab
Electronics Engg. Circuit Lab
Workshop:- This one is a bit lengthy but can be done in one day. You need to take a separate NO-DUES form from main workshop. It contains all the 11 or 12 workshops from where it needs to get signed. When it gets signed at all workshops, you need to submit that form along with the main NO-DUES form. They will keep their NO-DUES form and will sign in your main NO-DUES form.

We have two libraries in our campus.

University Library
College Library

We can get library cards from both libraries. Getting library card from college library is easy. You just need to have semester fee receipt. But it's really a lengthy process to get a library card from university library. As I never totally utilized the college library cards, I never felt it necessary to get the university library cards. So, I never took a library card from University library in four years. Even then I need to get NO-DUES from there.They asked me to produce previous semester fee receipts. But they are lost with time. But I convinced them that I never took a single book from the library. U need to get the NO-DUES form signed first at the university library and then at college library. There too, they asked for previous semester fee receipts. But here, he had record of persons who didn't return library books. Good for me! So, Got clean chit here too.

N.C.C (National Cadet Corps) :- I joined N.C.C in 8th class. But discontinued it afterwards due to change of my school. In university, there is N.C.C but never joined it. I don't know exactly where their main office is. Still I need to get the NO-DUES from there too. But it was easy to get NO-DUES from N.C.C.
I.T Gymkhana :- In my four years of engineering, I never utilized my college Gymkhana. I didn't went to the Gymkhana Gym or their playground. I used to play cricket in other playgrounds with friends or table tennis in the common room. It was easy to get NO-DUES from here too.
Hostel :- Here first, You need to get a separate form from warden office and then get NO-DUES from the Maharajs (Mess Owners) of all the messes in the hostel & also from the canteen owner too. If you submit that completed form in the hostel along with the main NO-DUES form, then the warden will sign on both of them and returns them to you.
Hostel Coordinator :- Hostel Coordinator will sign only after getting your present hostel warden sign on the main NO-DUES form.
Department:- It's now department's turn. They will provide you with a separate NO-DUES form which consists on nearly 20-25 teaching staff (Professors, Readers, Lecturers) and 8 Electrical Labs. Need to get it signed by all of them. After completing it, you should submit that form along with the main NO-DUES form in the HOD ( Head of the Department) office. HOD will sign when he feels that he has some free-time.
Assistant Registrar:- You need to get it signed by Assistant Registrar. At that point of time, I guess that he was on leave. Deputy registrar is next in power. So he signed on the main NO-DUES form.

In order to get the caution money back, you need to produce your first semester fee receipt. As I said, I don't have them. Now I have to get a duplicate. This too has a very lengthy process but I had no other choice but to follow it.

A letter requesting for the duplicate needs to get signed by the HOD.
This letter should be submitted in the financial section along with Rs.25 (Rs.25 for each semester) as penalty.Then they will give you a receipt.
Now submit this receipt in the administrative office.They will ask you to come 1-2 days later to collect the fee receipt.

Huh!!!What a waste of time. It is easy to preserve it than following this whole procedure.
If you already have the first semester fee receipt, then the above procedure is unnecessary. Take two xerox copies of the main NO-DUES form. Submit One copy in the department and keep the other one with yourself.
Now buy postal cover and attach stamps worth Rs.22-25 so that they can send a cheque or DD of your caution deposit. Mention your postal address on the cover. Place the four copies of the main NO-DUES form and Hostel NO-DUES form along with the first semester fee receipt. Submit it in the financial section. Here it comes to an END!!!

Prison Break .....My 1st TV series

I never watched a TV series in my college days...because when I saw my friends watching them...I get this feeling that they got addicted to it. So, it crossed over my mind at that time. After final sem exams and before Job joining... there is a period of more than 2months. Then, I felt that this may be the right time to watch some series. So I asked opinions of my friends...so that I don't start a nasty one.

I like movies with Action, Suspense, Adventure....Next comes comedy, romance and all....So, I started with "Prison Break".

It has a total of 4 Seasons (81 Episodes).All the seasons are wonderfully co-related.
Plot of the Story is too good. The twists, The Action , The sentiment ....and A love Story among all of these.

Season 1 is the Best one. I have this feeling that the author is somehow inspired by "The Shawshank Redemption (1994)". The way the Author molded it was amazing...Especially I like that idea of tattooing the whole plan on the body.But the feel of the Season 1 kept on decreasing with following seasons.

There are many characters in this series with wide variations in characterizations...

Lincoln Burrows - He is the one who always runs into the trouble.
Michael Scofield - Mastermind, Genius brother, who gets into trouble to get his troubled brother out of trouble.
Dr. Sara Tancredi - Beautiful Doctor.
Theodore 'T-Bag' Bagwell - Psychopath. He makes things little unpredictable.
Fernando Sucre - Mr. Papi
Brad Bellick - Started as a Egoistic police officer and Ended as a Stupid one.
Mahone - Mr.Addict of FBI.
C-Note - "you feel me,man?"...This is his famous quote.

There are still many other characters....which makes it complete.

In the last season (Season 4) Episode 22, the story ended with a happy ending. I felt that there is no need for episodes 23 & 24. I guess that the author believes in an ending where an important character in the story must die. So he created a small plot in Episodes 23 and 24 to kill the main Character "Michael Scofield".That was very unpleasant and the reason is also not so convincing.

My Job Party @ College

I took parties from my branch mates as they got dream jobs in Companies like NTPC, CIL, etc...As I have got a dream job in Sapient (I don't know whether it's a dream job or not. People say it's a dream job), Now it's my turn to throw a party. But here I am in dilemma "whom to invite?" . I can't invite everybody. It will cost me a lot. At the same time, 5 of my branch mates gave a party in Ideal Tower. They invited everybody.It's a great party. After that party, people started thinking to give such a party. It's Good Way to give a party for your branch-mates.
There won't be any confusion "Whom to invite?". You can invite everybody.
It costs you less comparatively.
Moreover ... It will be a BiG Party.

So, We,11 branch-mates decided to throw a job party . But this time it will be a Bigger compared to the last one as there is a lot of contribution.

Pre-Script:- This post is not intended to hurt anybody. Some points are added to make it entertaining. Regarding CTS, I don't have any disrespect towards it. Don't misunderstand my feelings.

Hi...

I am back with my valuable experience regarding Sapient campus placement. Eventhough I have a software job in Cognizant (CTS)... I am not satisfied with it...I have my own reasons like ....

It's a mass-recruiter.
Low-Paid Job.
For a Student who cleared JEE...People expect that you will have a job with very good CTC (Cost To Company)...Atleast 5.0 Lakhs.
Etc.....

So I was looking for a job with better profile and handsome salary... Before Sapient, I attended many interviews of High-profile companies like CitriX, Geiper, Morgan Stanley, etc... In CitriX & Morgan Stanley, there was a good competition from CompSci guys. Let's face the fact - They have three years of programming knowledge (experience). They are more eligible than me. I am just an amateur in front of them. So I lost those jobs due to heavy competition. In Geiper, .......They asked questions regarding my core (Electrical). Not so good at it. I lost that job too..... But at that time, I was happy because I don't want to do a job which involves Electrical knowledge. I never prepared myself to do such a job. My interest is a software job. I applied for that company only in desperation for a job and also because of it's attractive package.

Then Came the Sapient to my rescue. Their frequency matches to that of mine. So I applied for it. But it was opened to whole BHU.

Normally, campus visiting software companies may open for MCA but never for M.Sc. But with this company, it was different. That makes a large no. of applicants.

Technical Interview
HR Interview (It will be taken only if you clear the Technical Interview.)

On 16th morning, We had to attend the online test. Like Cognizant, this time too Lala (Saurabh) and I attended the test on a mutual understanding. Lala, Me and Rajeev sat in the same row. But it's not of much help. The question papers are almost different from one another. There is almost no scope for malpractice. But in English section, there are questions related to synonyms and antonyms. We can open the browser and search in a dictionary. But I didn't get this idea at that point of time. I gave the exam on my own (99.99%). By 12, the exam was over. We reached hostel. But we came to know that there's PPT(Pre-Placement Talk) @ 1.00 pm. I didn't attend it as it was scorching summer outside and already got tired due to the lengthy online test (2 hours 10 min). People who attended said that it was really good and there's a girl in their team named Bandana. They said that she was beautiful & Cute.

The results were declared on 17th morning. 57 were selected for interviews.The interviews started from 1.00 p.m. From electrical, 5 got selected for the interview. My interview slot was from 6-8 pm. If a person clears Technical interview then only he/she will be allowed for the HR interview. Each interview takes at least 45 min.When I reached the TPO office, people were discussing about puzzles. Katta reached there to help his classmate Anmol regarding C & DS. Katta started asking me all the puzzles he knew. They were of great help.

There is one thing odd in Sapient Interviews. They declare results right after 10 mins of your interview. Most of the companies declare results after all the interviews of the selected candidates were taken. I think they don't fix the number of candidates they want to hire.I guess they don't do relative grading. That's really good.

My technical interview was taken by "Kailash" ( I have a very close friend with the same name ).

I don't remember exactly all the questions. But it was an exhaustive technical interview. He almost asked everything that I wrote in my resume (C, C++, Data Structures, Networking, Operating Systems). He was even ready to ask questions about Databases & Java. But I don't have a good knowledge in that domain. Finally the interview came to an end.

I waited outside for at least 10 min. I wasn't so confident about my interview becoz Lala's interview too went well but wasn't selected for HR interview. After awhile, Bandana came out and said I am selected for HR interview. She pointed to the room where my HR interview will be taken.

I never had an HR interview before. As I entered into the room, he welcomed me.
Questions are in the following aspects:-

How was your day? Tell me your today's routine?
You are from Electrical Background, how can you cope with the software industry?
How do you put teamwork? What is your individual performance in your activities among your team members?
If I give you 100 bottles of Bisleri, how do you plan to sell them in your hostel?
After 5 years, where would you like to see yourself?
Do you know the positions in a software company?In which position do you like to see yourself? Why so?
If I place you in other division, will you be able to do it?

They were many other questions. It was of almost 45 min. Too exhaustive than Technical. I felt it more difficult than Technical. At Last , he gave me a Handshake. After 15 min, Bandana came and said that I cleared the interview process and I am SELECTED. Then She gave me a warm Handshake and an Employee Application Form to fill.

If they want thinkers, then They Got One (You must be thinking "who is it?". Come on...It's ME.)

A total of 11 members selected... Very Good In-Hand pay, Very Good Job Profile & A warm HANDSHAKE... What more can any person want... Even though it is not a job of CTC more than 5.0 ( As people expect from JEE students ) it is an equivalent job.

Invisible Folders In Window$

To Lock a folder in windows without any software. Follow the steps Below.

Make a Folder in C drive rename it as "abc" without quotes.

Now open Command Prompt from Start Menu.

Type "attrib +s +h C:\abc" without quotes and press enter.

This command will Make your folder invisible and it can not be seen even in hidden files and folders

To make it visible again type "attrib -s -h C:\abc"

You can lock any other folder also by changing the location C:\abc to address of your folder.

It's Totally Free...

It's Totally Easy...

It's Totally Legal...Actually It depends on the way you use it...

As I mentioned in my earlier post, Downloading the stuff from net is not illegal but uploading them in the net is illegal. But in torrents, you don't download the file from the net. You download it from other person who is hosting the file on his computer in some other part of the globe. If he stops uploading the file, you can't download it.

If you are a college student who is studying in a hostel with a LAN, you will get know of the term DC++, the ultimate file-sharing solution. The torrents are very similar. But in the former case (DC++), both persons are in same geographical location (College) and in the latter case (Torrents), both of them can be at anyplace on this globe.But both of them should be connected through internet.

Torrent principle

The BitTorrent protocol was made mainly for temporarily very popular files - for example when a new movie or music album comes up. The download speed increases proportionately to the number of users downloading the same file and that is the biggest advantage of torrents.

When you are downloading something through torrent, you share your already downloaded part at the same time (for this reason you break the law in most countries when you are downloading illegal data). When you start downloading, your application contacts a "tracker" server, which co-ordinates all clients (other users' applications). From the tracker the application finds out where to download from, which parts have the other users already downloaded and so on. Also your application informs the tracker about what part you were able to download until now - and by that it gives it at other users' disposal.

Main Advantage in my View:-

Normal Browser downloading like rapidshare links...etc. if there is a powercut or a sudden disturbance in Internet speed while downloading any normal file, song or a movie, it may collapse the whole file or you have to download it from Start. That means, there is no Resume downloading facility and secure download.

By Using Torrent downloads, we can easily stop file downloading any time in the middle of downloading and can start any time or any day. That means we can download file sizes more than 1GB in different intervals of time with security by resuming the download.

Terminology in Torrents:-

1.Seeders:-(Seed, Seeding)

These are the ones who have the complete file and is allowing others to download from his/her computer.

2.Leechers:-(Leech, Leeching)

These are the ones who is currently downloading the file.They download the file both from seeders and fellow leechers. After completing the download, they will automatically become seeders. It is completely his/her choice whether to continue seeding or stop seeding.

3.Ratio:-

It is the ratio of your upload amount to your download amount.
Eg:- If you downloaded a 2 GB file and continued to seed it until it reached the upload amount of 3GB. Then your ratio is 3/2=1.5.

4.Torrent client:-

It is the software that does all the downloading and uploading stuff. There are many of them available in the internet. Most famous among them are uTorrent, Vuze (Azureus), BitComet, BitLord..etc

5.Torrent file:-

Torrent is a small file (around few kilobytes) with the suffix(extension) .torrent, which contains all the information needed to download a file. That means it contains file names, their sizes, where to download from and so on.

The sites which provide you with torrent file, ask you to maintain at least the ratio of 1:1..i.e..Amount of upload equal to amount of download.
There are many sites where you can get torrents without any registration. In these sites, you don't have to maintain the ratio.
But there are torrent communities who believe in ratio restrictions. In these sites, you have to get registered. Only after getting registered, you will have access to torrent files. If that site imposes ratio restrictions, you will not be able to download any file if your ratio is below than their mentioned min. ratio.

My Suggestion:- Maintain the Ratio. It is the way to keep the torrents community alive. If you don't do it why others have to do it for you. Try to be Reasonable.

Steps to Download from Torrents:-

Step-1. Download and install uTorrent Software in your Notebook PC or System.

Step-2. Then go to the torrent site and Download the torrent file for corresponding file.

Step-3. Open the torrent file with uTorrent.

Step-4. uTorrent will ask you to choose a destination place in your HDD(Hard Disk) where you want to save the files(like Movies, songs....etc).

Step-5. Click on Ok. Your download will be started automatically. Takes time to download completely depends on Size of the file and Download speed.

After completing download and torrent status shows as seeding and also u can see upload amount and ratio there.

How to Download Internet Stuff? (File-Hosting Sites)

Internet Stuff include Movies, Videos, Games, Softwares, etc...
The following are the ways I know of on how to download:-

From File-Hosting sites like Rapidshare, Megaupload, Mediafire,etc:-

You can get their links from forums like amaderforum, lazydesis,etc. Take these links ---> paste them in the address bar of a browser & enter.

Mostly, these file-hosting sites have two types of users:-

1.Free users

2.Premium users

If you are a free user, you have to wait for certain duration to get the download link. They also impose restrictions on the public IP you are using like 3 free downloads per hour per IP. Most of these sites provides good service to premium customers [U have to pay to become their premium customer] and free customers have very limited downloads and service.

Following picture is an example from Megaupload:-(click on the Image to read clearly)

If you want a premium account without paying money, some of these file-hosting sites provide you with an alternative.

Create a free account in their site
Upload a file in that account.After the upload, they provide you with a link for that file
Now post this link like everybody else in the forums I mentioned above
You will get points as the other people start downloading the file from that link. From these points you can get a premium account. But some sites provide you with money instead of a premium account.
For more info, Open any file-hosting site and check the FAQ section. All your queries will be explained.

There are many techniques available in internet to download from these file-hosting sites without a premium account. You can (Google or Bing or Yahoo) them. Some of these techniques are difficult to access and some are difficult to understand.

I know of an add-on for Mozilla Firefox. It's called SkipScreen.

Add this add-on to your Firefox browser. It automatically downloads the file after the wait-time is completed.

There are some sites which use a script called Rapid Leech. Again You can (Google or Bing or Yahoo ..etc) it.You can definitely find some sites.

The famous Rapidleech script transfers files from Rapidshare, Megaupload, Depositfiles.com, Easy-share.com, etc, via your fast servers connection speed and dumps the file on a server. You may then download these files from that server.

Rapid leech script has being used by more than 5 million users worldwide and has being installed on more than 2000 servers.

Some servers use premium accounts to download the stuff you asked them to. But they just want you to click some adds before you download from them. These sites are resume capable and support download accelerators.

Note:-

Mediafire is exceptionally good. As it provides better service to free users compared to other sites as far as I know.
Uploading copyrighted material into these file-hosting sites or into the net is illegal. But downloading them is not. So beware of it.

There are many sites which provide freeware and shareware. You can download this stuff by the direct download links provided by these sites. Most of these downloads are resume capable and have download accelerator support.

Best Download Accelerator:- IDM (Internet Download Manager). I personally use this & I believe that it is the best. Am I wrong?

LLR - Learner's License Rule

Hi ...
In the Holi Holidays, I took my learner's license for 2 wheeler with gear at RTO, Ongole . Eventhough it's late ... It's never too late. I am here to just mention about the correct procedure involved in getting the LLR.

You need to take the following forms at RTO to apply for the License:

1. Form 1
2. Form 1A
3. Form 2

Along with the forms, you need the following proofs:

1) Age proof evidence ( any one )

School Certificate (Original & Xerox)
LIC Policy (or) Passport(Original & Xerox)

2) Address evidence ( any one )

Ration Card (Original & Xerox)
LIC Policy (or) Passport (or) RC Book (Original & Xerox
Voter ID Card (Original & Xerox)
Passport (Original & Xerox)
Govt. Bank Passbook (Original & Xerox)
Residence Certificate (Original & Xerox)

If you have all the necessary documents, go to eSeva counter and pay chalana for Rs. 60 (2 wheeler with gear). At the counter, they provide you with a slot (Date - Time) for an online exam. When I was paying the fees, I don't know about the online test. They said that it was a test. I guessed it as a fitness test or a medical test.

Then take the forms at RTO (Road Transport Office) ...Fill them...Get Original and Xerox of the Age and Address Evidences. Go to the office. There, an officer approves the documents by checking the originals.

The problem at that time was that I had only xerox of the 10th class certificate and the original was in the college hostel. Therefore, the officer didn't accept my application. But I tried to convince him. I had my JEE and AIEEE hall-tickets and result cards with me. They have DoB (Date of Birth) mentioned on them. What the officer need is an Age proof ...so I mentioned about them to the officer. He said it's ok with them. Immediately I took the xerox of them. Then he approved my application.

After that... I approached the RTO on the day of my test with the approved application. When I inquired about the test...I came to know that it is a online test with objective type questions. But what is the syllabus here...?????

In front of the RTO ... there are many xerox shops. They sell some notes for the online test. It's worth Rs.6. Just half an hour before the test...I started reading the notes...It contains typical questions regarding the awareness of traffic rules, regulations and signals.

To write the exam ... you should submit the approved application in the RTO ... Then your photo through a digital camera and your signature is taken into the computer. Go to the examination room and wait for your turn...

Examination pattern:

Time:10 min

Total no. of Questions:20 Objective-type Questions

Min. Cut-off:16/20

My score is 18. But don't underestimate the test. If you don't prepare for it...the odds against getting qualified are ten to one. If you get disqualified in the test, you have to re-apply. So I have my learner's license now... This is valid for 6 months. After 1 month, I can take my test for the permanent driving license.

It's a Valentine's Day... Somebody proposes...Somebody rejects...Somebody celebrates...
Whatever...It's a day of happiness and freedom...for Singles , not for lovers...
Anywayz...Happy Valentine's Day for everybody....

People (mainly couples) are enjoying the day with their partners. I...(Being single)...should write the exam which I don't even want to excel. I bought the application because at that point of time , I didn't had a single job. So as a back-up, I applied for it.

Now I have atleast a job (Cognizant)...Not so good one... It's a software job... but My kind of a job. Therefore, not interested in GATE anymore.

Zero Preparation...Zero Technical Knowledge...There's no meaning in writing the exam...
But there will be a guilty feeling if I didn't appear exam for which I paid the fees ... That too just because of lack of interest... It's a matter of just 3 hours or even less...So I had attended the exam . I thought it will be a great timepass... :)

As the exam is of not great importance to me... maybe I should do some malpractice. But when I reached the examination hall ( Dept. of Civil Engineering ), there was no one belonging to EE ( Electrical ) near to me. Shashank Gupta (My classmate) was there in the same hall. But he was quite a distance away from me.

65 Questions with Mathematics, Aptitude and Technical (Electrical).

Some questions are for 1 mark and some are for 2 marks.
1/3rd of the mark(1/3 or 2/3) will be deducted for the negative answer.
The paper is for a total of 100 marks.

After seeing the question paper, I had this feeling that GATE paper is nothing if you are good with your college lectures. As I am not so good, the paper was difficult. I was able to manage the Aptitude and Mathematics section but the Technical section....Hmm...As I said "Way out of my league". At last I marked all the questions ... some are for sure... but the others are complete guesses.

180 min------65 questions....Too much time for a guy like me...with Guess-work ( It doesn't consume much time. )

My exam was over ...half an hour earlier , even with a double-check. But the invigilator didn't allow me to leave the hall. So I had to wait until 12.30.

After coming out...People were discussing the paper... I didn't involve much in it...What's the use? It's already over...

On the same night, I got the key for the Question paper in the net. I crosschecked it with my own answers I marked. A lot of Negatives. At Last, Score is around 38 (Min.).
Let's See what will happen ... when the results are out... I wish for Respectable percentile and rank... I don't want miracles... Because I don't need it in this case as I am not interested in doing a M.Tech anymore...

Hey, My name is not Khan ... I think you know what it is. This is the movie I watched yesterday. It was released on the same day. My friend and classmate saurabh got a job in SISO. Instead of a party, he took us to the movie. Nearly half of the class is invited. Actually I had never been to a theater in Varanasi. I have my own reasons. Thanks saurabh for the ticket.

   I am here not to tell you about whether the movie is a hit or flop. Just writing my experience.

We ( Me, Ankit & Prakhar ) started from the hostel at 9.00 p.m. We came to know that there are no autos available at HG.But we got a bus which is a conference bus taking girls to their respective hostels. We had no other way. We requested them to drop us at Lanka. They agreed. But there is a catch. I can reach Lanka from my hostel in 5-10 min on Bicycle. But it took 20 min for that bus to reach lanka. It's speed was nearly about 10 km/hr maybe less ( I guess ). Thereafter we took a service auto to IP Mall. Rs.10 per head. Reached there by 9.40.

     A lot of time for the show to begin. So I had an Ice cream ( Amul ). Tasty Scoop. The movie is on the second floor. There I took my ticket from Avinash. Kamina...He took a bite of my scoop for the ticket.

     While entering the hall, there was a huge crowd. I gave the ticket to the ticket collector at the entrance. I wasn't able to collect my other half of the ticket from the person due to the crowd. So I left the ticket and entered the theater. The theater is good. My seat no. is E-22. Before entering I thought A,B,C,D,... rows start from the back. After entering I came to know that it starts from the front. I was too close to the screen. It's a headache to see a movie so close to the screen.

About the Movie:

     It's a movie related to the muslims living in America. The circumstances they faced after the 9/11. Before this movie, there are some other movies like "New York", "Kurbaan" with same theme... But they are violent in nature. This one is little different in that aspect.

Actually it's a movie for Americans. In recent past, ShahRukh Khan was detained by Airport security staff because of his name. This is the movie that Shahrukh Khan should show to them. It's a message-oriented movie to tell the world that every muslim is not a terrorist.

A person believes that there are only 2 kinds of people in the world: Good and Bad. After 9/11, He was humiliated by the American Society because he is a Muslim. So he wants to tell the president that " My Name is KHAN and I am not a terrorist.". He moves the America with his compassion to their people who were affected by floods.

If you are a person who seeks some entertainment (Comedy) from a movie, then this movie is not for you.

After the Movie:

Finally we came out. I came back to the hostel on bike with Rathore. He let me rode the bike after the entering the university premises. The road is covered with mist. It was my first experience to ride the bike in such conditions... Back to Hostel by 1.30.

This is the new search engine introduced by Microsoft.Even though, it was released on May 28, 2009.. I visited it 2 days back.

The name has strong similarity to the word 'bingo', which is used to mean that something sought has been found or realized, as is interjected when winning the game Bingo.

In the first glance, Bing will leave a very good impression on you.

The home page has very good background with some amazing wallpapers. You can even change it as you like. To change it, you have to move the pointer to bottom-right & press "previous image"or"next image" buttons which are present in the form of arrows.

As you move the pointer on the background image, there will be formation of black boxes. They just flash and disappear as you move out. When you place the pointer on them, a text-box opens up displaying a fact or info...whatever ... it is about the theme of the background. It gives the link to know more about it.

As you browse it...you feel that it's graphics or whatever...are good. Better than Google. I think it's the reason why it takes more time to load than Google. It's Bandwidth intensive. That's Why I think Google kept it simple. Maybe...

The layout somewhat resembles that of the Google.

Coming to it's purpose as a search engine, When you search a word in it... you will not get a good search as compared to that of Google. If you search the word "bing" in both of them, you will get more results in Google than Bing. This example shows how the experience matters.

As of January 2010 Bing is the 3rd largest search engine on the web by query volume, at 3.16%, after its competitor Google at 85.35% and Yahoo at 6.15%, according to Net Applications.

Let's Hope that They come up with better ideas, better searches & better..........

My Visit to Ramnagar Fort... Not great but Good...

P.S (Pre-Script, not Post-Script): Last Paragraph is a little more interesting than the rest...

Hi guyz...

Recently I had been to Ramnagar fort which is "Rs.10" away from the BHU main gate. I don't know... exactly how many kilometres it is from BHU main gate. So I said it is "Rs. 10" away as it takes Rs.10 in a service auto from BHU main gate to Fort main gate.

It was 25th January morning...Last day at Kashiyatra'10. When there is a cult. or tech. festival taking place in campus, it's just taken for granted that those days will be holidays. So I and venky planned to go to Ramnagar fort on 24th. But on that morning, we heard that some people left for classes. We didn't care. So we left the hostel for Fort around 11 a.m. I called katta (My online tour guide for this one... Just kidding... My friend and collegemate ) & asked him "Hi ra, How to reach the fort?"...

He replied " Reach Lanka and then go right where you have autos leaving for Mughalsarai and Ramnagar. Rs.10 per each person ".

"Thanks mama, bye".

Note: "Hi ra", "Thanks mama". These phrases may seem awkward to you but not for Andhra People. It's our slang.

Just before we reach the fort, We go on a bridge which is very different. Different in the sense that I had never seen a bridge like that. It is supported by gigantic iron cylinders.

We reached the fort main gate with sky-high expections. There was a counter for issuing ticket to fort's museum. "Rs.15 per person" ... I thought maybe it's worth it. After going through the museum ... It was a bad idea to buy the ticket for museum. Not even one item was properly preserved. I think the last time they cleaned the antiques was before 10 years or even more.

After the museum, we went to a temple inside the fort. From the temple, there is a spectacular view of the river Ganga. We can even see the bridge (I mentioned it before) from there. After coming out of the temple, we didn't understand where to go in the fort. We asked the security guard and he said " That's it. There is nothing else to see here. Now you can go out"...... WT*!!!........ I mean to say that I didn't even saw the interior of the fort or atleast went to the top of the fort. The view I had at the temple is the only thing u can appreciate.

Hmm... Not so great. So I called katta again to ask whether he had seen anything else. He said to see the ghat infront of the fort. The ghat was different compared to other ghats...in terms of no. of people over there. In other ghats, u will feel little bit crowdy but in this ghat u can hardly 10 people ... Because it's a "Dhobhi Ghat". But it was good ...not great. After some time we left for the campus. We reached the hostel by 1.30 p.m. There we came to know that no classes were held. Thank God!!!

Last Paragraph:

Recently I was watching a telugu movie "Oy !". In a scene, I saw the Ramnagar fort which I was describing here. In this scene, Hero Siddarth, Heroine Shamilli & Pradeepravath are travelling in a jeep on the bridge to Ramnagar fort. It's the same bridge which I described above. First Job ..... Cognizant

It was 8th morning (Tuesday). By that time, 4th year Students in IT-BHU are really frustrated with the placements especially Electrical because I am from Electrical. According to our seniors, Electrical has best placements & there were some students who secured both a software job in companies like De Shaw, Morgan stanley, Goldman sachs,etc. & at the same time a job in PSU companies like IOCL, BHEL, NTPC, CIL, BEML, etc. But in our placement session, it is completely reverse. We are having PSUs visiting for campus placements but they are open to all other branches except Electrical. Thanks to NTPC,CIL. Atleast they took 6 students each from electrical.

So Cognizant was the first MR(Mass-Recruiter) visiting the campus. It's PPT(Pre-Placement Talk) was at 9.00 a.m. It was open to all (B.Tech/M.Tech/IDD). People were really excited about the company because of it's profile. It's a MNC (Multi-National company). There was also an expectation that the company will take above 100 students in this placement session because in 2007-2008 session, it took nearly 193 students. So it's certain that it will shortlist above 150 students. If that's the case, I was sure that i will be shortlisted for interview.

I and lala reached the G-14 at 9.30 hoping that the PPT has already began. But after getting there, we came to know that the PPT got postponed to 10.00 a.m. We didn't want to get back to hostel for half an hour. So we went to TPO (Training & Placement Office) to see if there is any news about the companies that are about to come in the near future. There was no update about the future companies as expected.

Lala said that "let's go to the examination hall (F-6, F-16, F-17)where the written test will be taken. "

As we both are examination-partners for this company, I said "Let's go".

We went to F-16. We both were first to reach the hall. As time passed , rest of our branch mates came to the hall. Our branch reaches the examination hall first before any other branch. I think U can understand the reason behind it.As the PPT finished, other branches also came at the hall.

There are 3 sections in the written test.

1.Quantitative aptitude(25)
2.Verbal ability(25)
3.Attention to detail(20)

There is no negative marking.

After completing one section, other section will be given to you. Quantitative aptitude and attention to detail were really easy for me. It's the verbal ability that caught me. My english is really poor( U can understand how poor it is by reading this blog).

Anyhow the exam was over. We went back to the hostel & were waiting for the results. At 5.00 p.m results were announced. 270 members got selected for interviews totally. I was shocked literally to see such a plethora of selections. I was also selected for interview. From Electrical, 29 members got selected including me. There were 18 panels for conducting the interviews simultaneously. The interviews were scheduled based on the panel they will be interviewed and the time slot in that panel. Mine was in the panel-14 ( Administrative Office ) at 7.00 p.m.

There was plenty of time for me to prepare for the interview. Ankitji provided me with his white shirt & tie . I had my own black pants & belt. Avinash provided me with his shoes. It's size is 8 and mine is 9.I had to adjust as there is no option for me. I had my own pair of socks ( sold to me by Rajeev ). Prepared my file with certificates, grade sheets & a resume. I reached the administrative office by 7.00 p.m but the 6.00 p.m batch didn't get completed. There were many people (3-4) in that queue. So I had to wait. There , I met katta and vinod. We had some discussion (confidential :) ). My turn came up.

INTERVIEW:

Interviewer: So u are Yarlagadda Umesh Ram ? ( It's obvious that he found difficulty in reading my name)
Me: yes sir
Interviewer: How are you today?
Me: Actually I am not fine sir. Yesterday I met with an accident ( cycle collision :) ). My right hand got hurt. It's really hurting right now.
Interviewer: Oh...So tell me about yourself? ( Most common question in the interviews )
Me: ( I gave him a glimpse of my autobiography ) .
Interviewer: Why software? ( Common question in interviews for Non-CSE branches )
Me: ( I explained him about my colour blindness reason and my interest in the networking. I also said that I am a CCNA. He was quite impressed.)
Interviewer: So u did ur CCNA...
Me: Yes sir
Interviewer: Tell me about router and switch?
Me: (Explained it very clearly)
Interviewer: Tell me about OSI layers?
Me: (Explained it very clearly)
Interviewer: Difference between TCP and UDP?
Me: (Explained it very clearly)
Interviewer: k...If a person wants to send a message to a particular user then which protocoal he has to use...? Is it TCP or UDP?
Me: I said it's TCP ( Explained it's reason )
( I noticed that he gave me a remark as "very good in N/W" in some evaluation sheet.)
Interviewer:Are you ready to work in any part of India?
Me: Ofcourse sir. (Ofcourse because there is no branch in U.P or Bihar. )
Interviewer: Thanks umesh...

After seeing the remark, I was totally confident that I will be selected. Around 10.30 p.m, all the interviews are over. They said that the results will be declared by 12 'o clock midnight. At 1.00 p.m , people started shouting that we have to go to G-14 to know our results and receive our offer letters. How can students come out of their hostels in such a cold weather? That was weird. Nobody expected such a call . Some even slept expecting that results will be declared tomorrow. Most of us went over there. They declared that 150 students got selected. He started to announce the names. I was also selected as expected. 22 were selected from electrical. A person from Cognizant addressed the gathering and congratulated everybody who got selected. They had flight to catch so they left us early.

This is the experience of my FIRST JOB...

Thanks to PRITS & MOTS ( TPRs of Electrical ) for all their hardwork especially to MOTS. He struggled a lot on that day.

Even though this is a bit old movie .
I feel like writing a blog about this movie...The actual reason is I had been hearing the songs from this movie from the past 3 days. They moved me a lot.

After the release of this movie, some people said that it was a flop. That time i had no idea about Krishna vamsi's movies. So I didn't watch the film at that time. I watched it in the Television after 1 year. It's really a remarkable movie from Krishna vamsi ...
After some years, it can be called a classic ... No kidding
Story & Screenplay are amazing ... Obviously Direction too...
Actors are good too ... But it doesn't matter who is acting ... when the movie is directed by Krishna Vamsi.

After watching the Movie, I become a fan of Krishna vamsi's Movies. What a job he has done till now!!! I mean movies like Sindhuram, Gulabi, Ninne Pelladatha, Anthahpuram,Chandralekha, Murari, Khadgam, Shashirekha Parinayam, Rakhi, Mahatma....( I wish that this list keeps on increasing). If you watched all these movies, the subjects are not related to one another. The next subject he is going to make will be different from the previous one he made. He keeps them real and heart-touching...Hats off to him!!!

Recognition of IT-BHU in my surroundings...

When we get out from college and enter into the world, everybody asks u the same Question " Which college did u study?".Too say frankly, i am really afraid of this question that too when i am outside of Banaras.(Thank God! Atleast people of Varanasi know about it. Just Kidding!!!)

When i go on a vacation to my home, i confront people of many types. For example, in train, i came across this couple who came to Banaras on a pilgrimage. They r returning from Banaras to their home. Naturally, in GangaKaveri Express, u come across people who r mostly from Andhra Pradesh, Tamil nadu & Kerala. This couple was from Andhra pradesh. From my conversation on phone, they came to know that i am a person from Andhra Pradesh. So they started the conversation with me. They asked my purpose of visit.

I said " I am pursuing a B.Tech degree in IT-BHU." They asked " Where is this college located at?". I replied "It is in Varanasi. U must have visited the Vishwanath temple in the campus." Now they realized that it is Banaras Hindu University. They replied " ya, we have seen it. So u r from Banaras Hindu University. Then what it is IT-BHU?". Then I replied " It is institute of technology, Banaras Hindu University . We call it IT-BHU. k . Leave it. How was ur trip?". "Oh, leave about the trip. We should talk about ur college. Why did u come so far to get the B.tech degree? We have got 610 Engineering Colleges in Andhra pradesh. The highest number of engineering colleges in whole of the India. Didn't u get a seat in one of them? How much donation u r required to pay to get a seat here?". This is it. The same old question again. Now i am going to be the eye-opener for this ignorant people. I started my reply " I have scored nearly 95% in my both 10th(CBSE) & Intermediate. I had secured 805 rank in the EAMCET. I can almost get any seat in any college in AP. I had even secured 2271 rank in AIEEE. Maybe u didn't even heard the name of the exam. Do u know what it means? I can get a seat in NIT warangal. I secured 2863 rank in IIT-JEE. I guess u must have heard about the IITs. Through this IIT-JEE, i chose to study at IT-BHU. Oh sorry! at Banaras Hindu University. Do u know how much i pay here for a year? it is 27820/- only . It includes my tuition fees, Hostel fees, Electricity Bill, Internet facility, Maintainance, etc. Can u name a college which can provide me such facilities at same yearly fees? Every year we have more than 100% placement.Is there any college except NIT warangal which can get such placements? To avoid this kind of problem, we have been fighting for our IIT status so that we could get recognition of people like U.Is this enough Or would u like to know more about my college?" They were dumbfounded by response. He replied in a polite manner " I think it would be better if we talk about the trip we had."

So to avoid such situations, keep ur relatives, friends and neighbors informed about the IT-BHU.
Here i didn't intended to hurt anybody but it is a crude fact that many people of India doesn't know about IT-BHU. They may know about Banaras Hindu University but not IT-BHU. So take an initiative to spread the awareness. Mine is this one...

Here is a little detail about its history and existence:
The Institute of Technology or IT-BHU is the engineering school of Banaras Hindu University (BHU) in Varanasi. It is one of India's oldest and highest-ranked engineering colleges. Like the rest of BHU, it is a residential and co-educational institute. The University is situated in a magnificent campus spread over nearly 1300 acres at the southern end of the ancient city of Varanasi on the banks of the holy river Ganga. The admission for undergraduate students is through IIT - Joint Entrance Examination and for post-graduates is through Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). The Institute has so far produced more than 22,000 B.Tech. graduates, 2700 M.Tech. post graduates and 650 Ph.D. doctorates. Since its inception, the Institute of Technology, BHU has not only evolved to become a premier educational institution producing Graduates Technocrats and Entrepreneurs, but has remodeled itself into a educational beacon which provides versatile postgraduate training and conducts sophisticated research in Engineering and Technology.

IT-BHU is consistently ranked among the top ten technology schools in India. In May, 2005, a survey of engineering schools ranked IT-BHU at Number 5 overall, and at Number 1 in the development of "Intellectual Capital".

Many of its departments, called branches, come under the distinguished category of "Centre Of Advanced Studies", a distinction awarded by India's University Grants Commission.

According to a survey of leading technical colleges in India carried out by World Bank in August 2003, IT-BHU was ranked second in research, after the Indian Institute of Science. Other studies have been consistent. One published in the journal Current Sciences, on the publication output of engineering schools, ranks IT-BHU third and the IISc first.

The institute has contributed significantly towards the development of Indian industries since independence. Four of its departments (Metallurgical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mining Engineering and Chemical Engineering) are recognized by the Government of India as Center of Advanced Studies. Department of Metallurgical Engineering was the first CAS recognized engineering department of India. Also the departments are supported under FIST, SAP and DST schemes of Government of India. The Department of Electronics Engineering got machines in its VLSI lab which are imported from Germany and France. After IIT Kharagpur, IT-BHU is the only institute to possess such complicated labs. The Department of Electrical Engineering is well-known for its Machine labs.

Faculty members and research scholars are engaged in research and development work in many frontier areas of Engineering & Technology with the support of different funding agencies like the UGC, CSIR, DOE, DST, ARDB, DAE, AICTE, DRDO, and many reputed Industries such as TISCO, ONGC, SAIL, BHEL, HINDALCO, GAIL, FCI, COAL INDIA, etc. The Institute provides Industrial Consultancy and Testing Services of different kinds to a large number of industries. During the preceding five years, about 950 research papers were published and 900 presented; two dozen Books & Conference Proceedings were also published and 54 Symposia, Seminars, Workshops and Summer/Winter Schools were organized. During the past five years the faculty members have delivered about 350 invited lectures and have to their credit over a 100 National/International recognitions.

Several committees constituted by MHRD (Professors Joshi and Anand Krishnan Committees) have recommended for the conversion of the Institute into an IIT. On July 17,2008, the government of India issued a press release giving "In principle approval for taking over the Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University – a constituent unit of the Banaras Hindu University, a Central University, its conversion into an Indian Institute of Technology and integrating it with the IIT system in the country."

My first Certification

Hi dudes,

This is my first blog. Eventhough i am not so good at narrating, i tried my level best. Post ur comments please to improvise my future blogs.

It was Feb 28, 2009. It was my first certification exam. It was real tough to sleep the night before.

But I got up early in the morning(Actually i didn't sleep). I had to catch the college bus that takes me from the IIIT campus to the main centre in Allahabad as the IIIT campus is far away from the heart of Allahabad. Here i have to say one word about my friend Praveen kumar Chirumamilla. He is the one who took care of me in IIIT. I am really thankful to him. Thank you ra mama.

I went to the examination centre of Pearson VUE in Allahabad @ 10.00 a.m sharp. First time punctual in my life. The centre was actually a college of Uptech educational Consultancy. There was a madam, who sat in her cabin, sketching the title of the institute on a paper. She is little good-looking. When you see a girl, you always want to make yourself look good by speaking english. So i started the conversion in english.She too started giving reply in english.I asked her for the examination procedure. She gave me a form to fill.

I asked her, "What is the ransom i have to pay?".

She said, "13000/- ONLY".

I felt, " Is 13000/-, an "only" amount?. May be she is rich!!!".

I said " i will be right back in an hour".

I ran to an ATM nearby to check whether the amount is deposited my dad or not. Luckily the amount is deposited. I withdrew the money from my account. Then I returned back to the centre to pay the money at the counter. There is long queue @ counter. Students are paying the fees. They are making fun of the person at the counter.

a student said, " Aaj 1000/- laaya hoon"

the person said, " ye kaun sa installment hai beta?"

a student said, " woh tho aapko hi dekhe batana hoga. "

It nearly took an hour to clear the queue. Atlast, I was ready with the form and fees receipt. I went to the madam for the time slot.

She said, " When do u want the time slot for exam?".

I said, " Madam, i want to write the exam today itself"

She didn't say anything. She just shouted, "pagal ho gaya kya ya dimag karab ho gaya. Aaj kaise milega".

I was shocked by her slang. I started convincing her. Atlast she was convinced for giving that day's time slot. By 12 o'clock, the procedure is over. I was given the slot for exam @ 2 p.m. I got 2 hours to prepare myself for exam. I brought the master guide for my exam -study guide by Todd lammale. I started preparing for the exam in the waiting room. There were many girls in the waiting room for their classes. "Jahan pe ladkiya honge, waha pe padayi nahi hoga"(Don't take it seriously, just for fun). I was actually not able to concentrate on my exam. So i went outside for my meal. I had a Dosa and a Sugarcane juice. Eventhough it was not enough, it was quite enough to take the exam. I again got back to the centre for attending the exam.

As soon as i entered the centre, she was waiting for me.

She said,"It's time.Follow me".

I quietly followed her. She took me into a room with a highly sophisticated equipment. Then she told me to wait for a while. Later she asked me to sign on an e-notepad(I had never seen it before). Then she took my photo with a webcam. This things really gave me a splendid feel of the exam. Afterwards she asked me to sign again on a paper. Atlast, the procedure is over. She said that u can proceed to examination cabin. The cabin is just like a cabin in a netcafe. The computer is of HCL company. There is pin-drop silence in the room. I placed myself in front of the computer. There was a good demonstration of the exam that i was going to undertake. According to the demo, there will be extra questions that i have to undertake for survey purposes and there will be no extra marks for answering these questions. I was quite confused. Why should i answer such questions? But they said that they are acutally providing extra time for these questions.Then it's K.

Now i started the exam. By seeing the first question, there was a wave of panic in my body.It was a scenario question, actually a simlet. According to my seniors, the total paper contains questions from dumps (Practice papers from p4s). I went to the exam on their word of trust. By first question, i felt," pehle hi aisa hai tho, bakhi ka kya hoga". I took 15 min to make that question. The next question was a drag and drop question. The 2nd question is not so difficult. Guess what! This question too wasn't from dumps. Its the third question that came from dumps. Oh god! atleast one question! Thanks for this!

It was the fourth question that really caught me. I mistakenly pressed the next button twice and it asked me for some confirmation. I said "yes". Here i have to mention the real twist. In this exam, we can't get back to the question once we pass that question. Then i came to realise that the fourth question i passed can't be retrieved. Then i felt, " What the f**k???". Pardon my language. But this is the real moment to express the anger on yourself. I felt very bad for wasting my parents' money for such an unsuccessful attempt. My confidence level went down to Zero or maybe negative. As the fourth question was a scenario question, i just lost a considerable percentage. I calmed down myself so that i can complete the exam. Untill the 10th question, there was not even a single question from the dumps. I have done all the questions on my own. Confidence tending to -(infinity).

Huh! Already one hour is over. Only 10 questions of 43 were completed. Now i realized my position. I recalled all my courage and confidence. I completed the question paper 15 minutes before the scheduled time. In my heart, there were almost no hopes for a passing score. But i dared to see the score card. It mentioned as follows

Congratulations! Your Score is 888.

You passed the exam conducted by the CISCO. Ask the co-ordinator for further procedures.

OH SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY! i forgot to say the examination name i was attending. It was CCNA - Cisco Certified Network Associate. And The passing Score is 825/1000. With the result in front of me, i was really not able to stand on the earth. I felt like heaven. I was really happy. If there was somebody with me at that time, i would have given him/her a party in any restaurant, he/she desires. But it was ur bad luck. U missed the chance. Nobody was there for me except Hanuman Ji. He is the one who saved the day for me.JAI HANUMAN! Whatever it is, at the end of the day i became a CCNA.
